exercising more eating less and better and still no weight loss

Recommended Posts

i had my third fill on april 15 and still havent lost any weight. i have been going for a 2 mile walk outside 5 days a week now for one month. the walk is challenging with 3 medium hills and one huge one so its not that i am doing a easy walk. i also havent had any fast food for 5 weeks now. i did have chinese (1/2 a kids size plate) last friday but thats it. the only thing that i can think of is that i may have something sweet once or twice a week. i usually have a lower fat candy bar or an ice cream. i have noticed that somedays i may eat 5 times a day and other days i only eat 3 times a day. i wonder if this is causing my weight to flexuate. this happened to me before surgery i was exercising alot and still didnt lose. im trying not to get frustrated but the scale needs to move. this is crazy, i havent really lost anything now for 3 months. i will try to keep my chin up and keep on trying but i do get discouraged.

ps i can definetely feel restriction this time, some foods i can feel trying to squeeze through and it hurts, also if i eat to fast or dont chew good( im still not doing well on this) my stomach will ache for awhile.

any feedback would be great

thanks

andrea

I soooooo feel your pain:) I was banded on 12/26/2007 and I have only lost about 15lbs. I am 5'8 and my starting weight was 224lbs. I had almost no restriction untill about 2 weeks ago. I have had 5 fills and I am just starting to notice a differece while eating. I agree it is hard not to get discouraged. I've read how everyone else is shedding the pounds really fast and I'm not. I also realize that I will probably lose weight at a slower pace due to my height and starting weight. I complained to my doctor but he says I am doing fine. He is some what conservative on his fills but he says its in my best interest. I am totally cool with that though. I have told myself that I will not stress or worry about it. I tell myself that stressing about it is not going to make the weight come off any faster. Sorry I couldn't offer any advice for I am in the same boat as you. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. It sounds as if you are doing really well though. Keep up the good work and hopefully you will see major results soon. Good luck with your band.

Best wishes to your and yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
