NFaith and IMWITHTHEBAND....CONGRATS! On making the decision to a new and healthier you!!:smile2:

I did not have any problem w/ the hospital staff but you MUST as questions. The nurse kept wanting to give me the blood thinner but I told her that I did not need it and to check w/ the dr first. Dr Laker then came right in to see me and told me I did not need it.

Just from my experience...Shannon has the most knowledge of the three cordinator. Weiner is more conservative about fills then Laker. I really like Laker, he takes his time and ask you questions that are important to determine how much fill you need. Good luck and PM me if you have any questions. I'll be glad to share with you.

just an informal update... i am doing great and excited for fish.. i am also noticing increased hunger and less restriction...increasing everyday...im currently eating about 1/3 to 1/2 of what i used to eat in a sitting... so im incredibly happy!! it is so weird i feel totally full and satisfied on so much less than before...its like a no brainer diet... make the appropriate food choices and win win win!! so i cant wait for my first fill november 5th...

also... im going to stick with dr. weiner for my first fill... he was my surgeon and is fabulous so far... even called me personally when i left a msg about acid reflux with the coordinator... great dr... great place to have the surgery!! but yes... make sure you are well informed before you go... on everything!! and question everything you think may be wrong...

sounds like you are on your way! You will be in bandster hell for a month but if you use some self control you won't gain.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
