Does anybody know if you can bring your laptop into the hospital? The surgeon I'm seeing will require me to stay over night at the hospital and I would like to have my laptop with me so I can watch movies or play games. Basically to pass the time. I can only do so many crossword puzzles. Also are their many hospitals with WiFi?

The hospital I stayed at had WiFi. I thought about bringing my laptop...but brought my iphone instead. Good luck to you.

I just had my surgery on May 20th and my doctor also required an overnight stay (which I highly recommend). The hospital had free Wi-Fi and I also brought my laptop with movies, etc. However, my room had a TV with cable including Encore, Starz, etc., plus several "Free Hollywood Movies." The choice to watch included Hairspray, Harry Potter, Evan Almighty, Wild Hogs, No Reservations, Elizabeth, among many others. Encore (east and west) had several good movies too.

I think it really depends on the Hospital. I was in the Hosptial for 8 days, and I brought my Laptop and had no problems. They did not have WiFi, but I have the type of cell phone with which I could use it as a Broadband modem, so it all worked out well.

As it turned out, because of the nature of my surgery, I was not able to even pull out my laptop until the day before I left the hospital. But for that day, it was a LIFESAVER!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
