I just got word from Cigna (for Verizon Wireless Employees) that they will no longer cover the cost of fills after 12/31/08. My surgery is scheduled for the end of June and that means I probably won't have enough fills for proper restriction, right? If not, how much as self-pay fills? I have no clue... I'm going to the surgeon's office tomorrow and can ask, but you all are always so helpful! Thanks in advance!

You might want to check to see if they will continue to cover any procedures that were done prior to the cut off date of coverage. Insurance companies are callous, but I would find it hard to believe that they would not continue to care for the medical needs of someone they had previously covered.

I was going to say the same thing...you might be "grandfathered" in. Although that might be asking too much...as my insurance will cover my blood pressure medication one month and not cover it the next.

The weighloss clinic where I go charges $249.00 a fill.

At least your insurance is helping pay for your surgery and initial fills. I'd be thrilled if my insurance paid one dollar. I was self-pay and coughed up $16,000 and that only paid for four months post-op. After that, break out the "master blaster" again!SS

The charges vary widely!

My doctor charges $100 for fill and $150 for fill with fluro; no charge for unfill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
