I hopped on the scale yesterday only to find that I have hit 300 pounds! I am beyond devastated, and absolutely cannot wait for this surgery.

I have my first consultation with the surgeon next week. I feel like I am devouring everything in sight in the meantime, because I know once I meet with the surgeon, my pre-op diet begins... It's a string of last suppers, so to speak. Has anyone else experienced this? It makes me wonder if I am really ready to use the band as a tool, and not as a crutch.

omg, are we the same person? b/c i got on the scale monday to find out that i am 305lbs. in august, i weighed 272. tomorrow i go for my first consultation with my weight loss doctor. so tomorrow starts my 6 month pre-op doctor supervised weight loss journey. so tonight i basically ate way more than i normally do b/c i know that i've got to start my 6 month weight loss journey. am i totally excited about the life changes that are coming? not at all right now - do i know that it's because i'm an emotional eater, and i live to eat? most definitely.

we sound so similiar! keep me updated

You are not alone! I experienced many of the same feelings you described. I think my 6 month waiting period turned out to be a good thing because it gave me plenty of time to get myself prepared mentally for the changes I would be making.

Got banded today.

Yes, we are all here for the same reason, to get healthier. When I started my 6 visits in March, I was 300.5. I knew I had to make some changes. I'm trying and that's what counts! Best of luck, Tara, at your appt tomorow. You too AB! oh and congrats Shardenly hope you are keeping comfortable. =)

When I weighted in I almost fainted, because I was 281 lbs. But, it was a good thing because I have no co morbities, and my BMI was 41.2. So with a BMI that high without co morbitites they couldn't deny me! In my opinion, being 300 lbs is ok when you are making a step to do something about it!

When I met my surgeon, I didn't start my pre op diet until 2 weeks later because of the other requirements that had to be met. Luckily, I only have a 2 week diet on low carbs. But it's very hard because I am having to create low carb meals. Arrrrgggg!

But enough of my rambling.....I can't stress to you enough about how happy I was after I thought about it.....When I was waiting on my approval I was pretty calm....who can deny 281 lbs......

I was slow waking up from the anesthetic. Then the barium swallow triggered some nausea which lasted most of the rest of the day. Surgery was 8am and I was glad to be home by 530.

Feeling much better today. Just sore.

Ironically, I am having "last meal syndrome" as I call it. I just got my date today and today I have been so emotional. I feel like I am eating way more and stretching my stomach. I literally see all 30 lbs that I have already lost coming right back. Within three days all the changes I started noticing are reverting back to how they were 30 lbs ago. My face/love handles are getting bigger, yet I haven't gained any weight. I haven't lost anymore yet either though. Good luck!!

i am definitely having the last meal syndrome..

so i went to my weight loss clinic consult today. it was my first appt seeing the weight doctor. i was weighed, and measured. 299.5lbs by their scale, 45 bust, 42 waist, 57 hips. yes, i am shaped like a pear, lol. but i got my blood taken and everything. so next friday i am going to talk with the actual doctor about my lab results and get my weight medication. i asked the nurse today about lapband, and she told me to weight to talk to the actual doctor on friday.

anyway, today has very been emotional. i got fired today from my job. i am devastated because i loved my job. i am a special education teacher. so today i've done very badly and have totally eaten emotionally. i've eaten a cheese danish, a reese's cup, a hershey bar, 2 small bags of sour cream & onion chips, a medium bag of salt and vinegar chips, a foot long tuna fish sub, some milano Cookies, and COUNTLESS numbers of cups of grape soda.

why do we eat emotionally? we know better!

I was kind of super excited then I had to start this stupid low carb diet for 2 weeks...But I guess the closer it gets I will get excited again. However, there is this job I have been really really wanting that pays ALOT and I am supposed to get a yes or no answer tomorrow and it will call for me having to put the surgery off a year......So I am kind of like BLAH! :blushing:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
