I am two year post op with my band as of 5/8 and love it, love it, love it, have had very few problems. I have lost 62 pounds with a goal of 86 pounds. Anyway, I thought I wasn't feeling restriction as much and I had been gaining weight (8 pounds). Its been 9 months since I had a fill, and I had a fill on Monday, of 1/4cc. I experienced a lot of resistance right away with my band. The day of the fill, I was fine, the day after I was fine, today I have a lot of burping going on. I also have Bronchitis and am having a hard time getting my Protein Drink down, however I am drinking Water just fine. (Have a lot of congestion and coughing up gunk due to bronchitis). AFter I drink water, There is a little gurgling afterwards. I don't want to call my surgeon and have the Fluid removed, my question is in anyone's experience does this gurgling pass and such. I went back and read my manual and it said go liquid for a few days after a fill and that is what I've done, for lunch only 1/2 bowl Soup. Any suggestions or thoughts?

hey, crimsoncutie,

I have had the same experience you are having for two different reasons. Yes, sometimes you have to go with liquids and soft foods for a short while (usually 2-4 days for me) after a fill. I have had my band for 18 months now and whenever I have a head cold with mucus drainage, I notice that I cannot eat much at all. I have assumed that the mucus is draining into my stomach and filling me up and that is why I cannot eat much when I have a cold. I hope this helps.

I am so aggrevated. My fill was two weeks ago today and I've spent a miserable weekend with reflux. My diet has consisted of popcorn and nexium and Soup. Now isn't it strange I can eat popcorn? Seems if I can eat that then I'm not too full. If I read this site it scares me to death about pouch stretching, etc and I wonder do I need 1/8 cc removed? I'm so discouraged but can't keep this up. Feel like my PA at the surgeon's office is tired of dealing with me. ? :-( Unsure of what to do cause I've had reflux and stomach problems in the past. Guess I'll call the surgeon's ofc today. Thx for the reply.

i was just banded on the 15th and it came with a fill... and my next apt. is june 12th so i'm sorry i can't answer, but it is strange that u can eat popcorn.. but i guess as long as u chew it up then u should be ok... how much Soup, and other soft foods are u eating? do u feel like u want to throw up at all? A lot of it may be because u have the congestion... Oh yeah.. congrats on your success.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
