Gallbladder Surgery

Recommended Posts

Where do you live? There is no reason why you should be forced to use one surgeon to remove your gallbladder. I saw three different doctors before I chose one to remove mine. I would run from a doctor like that.

the gallbladder isn't even in the same neighborhood as your band - like I posted earlier I had my gallbladder out almost 5 months after being banded and didn't have one problem in fact the gallbladder surgery went easier than the band - I'd contact your insurance and see if theres a chance of using a different doctor - here's a link to part of the gallbladder surgery - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr3Md9XlLvw&eurl]YouTube - Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy[/ame]

Hi, I am having my gallbladder removed on Monday, June 2. I have been banded since August 2007. My surgeon who is doing my gallbladder removal has a very negative attitude and has been the biggest you-know-what. I have to use him due to insurance. He told he that he "just hopes he doesn't have to move or take out my band in order to get my gallbladder out". He has made continual verbal statements to me about what he thinks of my lapband. I don't think he should even have to touch my band and if he does, I will slap his face. Can anyone give me some information? Thanks so much.

I had my gallbladder removed approx. 6 weeks ago. I think it was a little easier than my lap band but really, neither is terribly painful surgery (in my opinion). I felt pretty darn good a few hours after surgery and was home less than 7 hours after I arrived at the hospital. I took my pain medicine on time and never really had any pain problems afterwards. Didn't even use all of my T3 prescription. Am having my 8 week check-up with my surgery shortly and I'm confident he'll be giving me the all clear to go back to normal (currently avoiding any abdominal stress). Oh, and my gallstones were discovered by accident during an ultrasound. I've never had a single attack - phew!

Interesting thread...I had my gallbladder removed years ago after some success losing weight with Nutrisystem. My doctor said he was getting lots of patients who had used this diet and lost a lot of weight. he told me the reason was that in cutting out almost all fat, the body begins to compensate on its own and my cholesterol was through the roof! As for the pain, I too thought i was having a heart attack. Drove myself to the ER and was admitted after a sonogram. One other note -- I was told I would be able to eat anything afterwards, but have had trouble with fried food ever since.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
