Sick and Tired of the fat...going to seminar tomorrow

Recommended Posts

ok, so i am overweight (5'5" and 248 lbs) 29 years old and sick and tired of being fat. People are always thinking that I am older, I believe it is because I am fat. I went to the ER one day and read the notes from dr. It states "slightly overweight" young woman :). Also, my PCP has a label on my chart that says "OBESE" (bright orange sticker by the way).

I am sick and tired and ready to take some serious measures! My coworker and I are the only obese people in the entire company (just about). So we have decided to go to the seminar together. I am excited but disgusted that it has come this far. I have done everything, you name it, i have done it (with no success by the way).

Well, going to the seminar tomorrow. hope its informative and it is the right fit for me....I will keep you all informed. Wish me (and my coworker) luck!!!

Welcome to LBT. If you and your coworker end up going through surgery together, you will be a wonderful support team to each other. And, of course, LBT is a great place for support and we are glad to have you join us here.

If you have any questions after attending the seminar, let us know and we will be happy to try and answer them for you.

Hi and welcome to LBT! Don't be disgusted for seeking surgery! Be glad that you ahve that alternative available to you. Your life will be so different if that's the way you decide to go. I can honsetly say I wish it had been an alternative for me when I was your age. I know things would have been so different for me over the past 9 years.

Good luck to you and your friend! If you both decide to do it, you will be such great support for each other! Let us know what you think after the smeinar.

I felt like I was reading my own post. A co-worker and I went through it together. all the appts, emotions, everything. I was approved and she was denied. It was my worst fear come true. I always thought it would have been the other way around though. As she has health problems and I dont. She has been a real sport and very supportive to me. I dont know how she's done it. I would be devestated had it been the other way around. She is in the final stage of her appeals with the insurance. I pray she is approved as she deserves this just as much or more than I do. Just remember if you are approved, its NOT a quick fix. Its much slower than I expected and has discouraged me from time to time. Just read on here and educate yourself as much as possible to prepare for everything. They dont tell ya "everything" at the docs office.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
