Why Do People Have to be So Mean...

Irene - I love the killin' 'em with kindness approach. I came in this morning and sweetly smiled and said good morning. She just looked at me. I said again, "Good morning, Pa***". She looked again and said, "morning". She has been shooting me with daggers today and been really short. I've been sweet as can be. I smile and just think "bi***". I'll defend myself again, but I'm not putting up with her crap. She will not get to me and now knows she will not.

That's right! I mean, what is she going to say in retort -- "She's being too nice..." Um, yeah. That's pretty much how I've been handling my situation and let me tell you, it works. I can see the anger, but don't let it fester to you! You can't make her problems your own.

First of all I would like to say- What a bitch!

Second I would kill her with kindness, as Littlemiss says. Record every instance with dates. Report her derogatory remarks, after you make an effort to speak with her about them. Tell her how they are effecting you. Even if she obviously won't improve (Because I can!) but atleast you can say that you made the effort to approach her.

Good luck. I think we have all worked with an evil bitch at one time or another.

Right now I work with almost all men, because the woman are upstairs. I hear the men gossiping about each other too, but it's nothing compared to the woman upstairs. Woman can just be vicious to other woman they work with, I don't get it myself.

Heck, if someone was asking me if I should eat something, I'd probably take it to an extreme just to show the person how rediculous they are.

I'd go up to her first thing in the morning, and say, "I know how concerned you are about my health, and I just wanted to thank you. I had ____ and _____ for Breakfast. Is that acceptable to you?" I'd do the same thing every single time I put anything in my mouth. "Oh co-worker, I just had a drink of Water. Is that acceptable to you?" "I'll call you tonight to tell you what I had for dinner, since I know you are so concerned about my health."

Trust me, after a while, she'll get tired of it, and will never mention food to you again.

Today - we have a good relationship - SILENCE. Not a word. I haven't said a word to her nor she to I. I'm not avoiding her, by any means, but really have nothing to say to her, so why waste my breath. I'm still friendly - doing the kindness thing, but have been having some evil thoughts.

I should wear my clanky shoes and swishing pants tomorrow (at the same time) - of course I can't eat it, but I should go through BK and order a LARGE WHOPPER with X-LARGE FRIES and X-LARGE coke, hell, I'll get a dessert pie too...slowly walk it by and just smile...Can you tell I'm still bitter? I can give the food away to people in the office. The guy that works in front of me would eat it (though he doesn't need to)...hehehe - I'm evil, I know. I'm trying to be the bigger person though (forgive the pun).

I'm glad things are working out for you. You probably freaked her so much by standing up for yourself! Wouldn't hurt to keep track of the stupid stuff she does or says to you but if she staying out of you way now that's the best gift she could give you besides quitting! Good luck! brandyII.

Oh My Goodness~ Yes report her. She is not only mean but not even in a position to speak to anyone that way! Go strait to your HR department if you have one. ASAP! Before she goes to them. She is not professional and aids in making your work environment along with everyone else an unpleasant place to be. (Throw in what effects the workflow!)

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted.

Oh ya I like that idea! Kill her with kindness to her face and report her behind her back! YES!

PS- Good for you for standing up for yourself. Keep it going!

Oh yeah if she has a complaint about an article of clothing making noise, tell her that her mouth makes such an intolerable "yapping" noise.

ROTFLMAO!!!!! That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!:blushing:

I'd start documenting. Only record the important stuff, issues that are seriously inappropriate. Issues regarding your weight, clothing sounds, that sort of thing. If she does something that just annoys the crap out of you but isn't technically inappropriate in a work setting don't include that. Make a list, dates, times, what was said, was it said in front of someone, etc.

Not only will that give you time to decide how you want to handle it, it will also afford you the opportunity of organization and that will show you really mean business here.

I wouldn't go getting coworkers to gang up on her with you to go to Mgmt, that will make you look bad. You don't need the support of your coworkers, what is happening is inappropriate.

Do you have an obese supervisor? That's who I'd go to, they'll understand better than anyone.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
