Congrats on surgery. You're definetly going to be hungry when on liquids. I hope things go well throughout healing. Try drinking more.

Hi Linda...I got my band on the 15th....I have been thinking alot about fresh green food ....how is your recovery going? I had a hiatal hernia repaired while being band and feel very gassy when I drink?

I was also banded on the 14th. Thankfully a lot of the gas is starting to leave but now the gas is being replaced by feelings of hunger. Thankfully, I'm able to start Soups pretty soon and I can't wait. I wish us all well.

I was banded 05/14 and had the hernia repair at the same time as well. I am starting to feel more like myself. I still have a bit of pain in one shoulder (is this gas pain still??) and once in awhile I get a painful spasm in my diaphragm area (sort of feels like a very painful hiccup) and I *think* it's from the hernia repair. But I am definitely starting to feel hungry now. The liquids aren't cutting it anymore. It's going to be hard to do another week of liquids. Ugh.

I still get sharp pains in my left shoulder that I assume is from the gas. I get burpy feelings alot but am not uncomfortable. I had fat free cream of chicken Soup tonight...it was at least a small change.

I was also banded on the 14th. Still have shoulder pain from gas and the hiccup thing but I am sooooo NOT hungry. I am having to force myself to get some calories and Protein in. I'm lucky to get 400 calories a day. All I want is Water. Maybe I should be thankful that I'm not hungry.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
