Kjay524 0 Posted May 19, 2008 Hello to everyone! I am new to the forum, but have already come across some really insightful information. I am 28 years old & 5'10"...from the Seattle area. I was banded on February 6, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Washington (Dr. Srikanth). Surgery went really well. Unfortuanately I developed a blood clot in my leg, and subsequently 2 clots in my lungs, and was hospitalized for a week. I hope I don't scare off any potential bandsters! These can happen after any surgery, but I am wondering if any other Bandsters suffered from the same complication? So far my Lap-Band experience has been great! With the Protein Shakes and all the Vitamins, I feel wonderful. To date I have lost 59 pounds. For the first time in a long time I have been able to work out and actually see some results. I haven't had much time to read through the different postings, but so far I have found the recipe section to be very helpful. Thank you to all for sharing your experiences and wisdom...this is a great support system!
Froggi 4 Posted May 19, 2008 Hi and welcome to LBT. Congrats on your banding, but the clots suck don't they. When I had my gallbladder out at 15 I got a blood clot in my leg. Clots can happen anytime you aren't very active especially while in the hospital/while healing from surgery at home etc. Us future bandsters know that there is a chance for complications so no worries about scaring us off lol. Once again welcome and hope to hear from you more and about upcoming successes.
neatobandito 0 Posted May 20, 2008 I am 28 years old & 5'10"...from the Seattle area.: Hi Kjay524, I'm 29, 5'10", and from the Seattle area, too. I was banded on 4/17 by Dr. Michaelson @ NWWLS in Everett, and have lost a little over 25lbs. This forum is an excellent resource, and I'm so glad that I discovered it when I did. It's really helped me answer a lot of questions, given me some great insight, and is just a nice place to turn when you're feeling like there aren't a lot of people around who can really understand what you're dealing with. I wish you continued success on your journey!
