Victorious Valentine Exercise Challenge?

Recommended Posts

I challenge myself to do 720 minutes of exercise from Saturday May 31st through Thursday June 5th!

Only because I've been slacking and I need to re-motivate myself to get back to the normal 540 per week.

Holy moly. 720 minutes? I can't wait until that doesn't seem like a complete impossibility to me. Bet that's why you're doing so well with the weight loss too.

It's no thing really, but I've got to be honest... I've started exercising years ago. Even as big as I was, I could pull off an hour a day (I'm talking around 300-280 lbs.)

It wasn't easy as first. I literally had to start with maybe 10-15 minutes a day for probably 3 days a week. I was about 330 lbs. at that time, but I lost the weight pretty quick to get under 300 and it was right around that point that I could do so much more.

I break up the minutes too, like, I'll walk for 30 minutes at 9 am and then again at 2:30 pm. Then at home I'll do 30-45 minutes on either my treadmill or my exercise bike. Then I can pull off about 15-30 minutes of different types of weight training or calisthenics (toning). Never doing the same muscles two days in a row.

I can go on and on because I just love it! It relieves so much stress and makes you feel so da*n good!

I know you will get there too, I completely believe that. Just don't give up and when you begin to notice certain things like, your weight loss slowing down and your not getting your heart rate up and it feels too easy, it's time to bump it up.

You're doing amazing by the way!

Yay! I finished my 120 minutes with two extra minutes and the day isn't over yet. I've been doing aerobic and strength workouts from National Body Challenge. If you had asked me to do it 4 months ago I would have said no way can I do that. It's exciting to be getting back into shape even though I have a ways to go.

Hey girls! Believe it or not I'm ready to try exercising again. (Lord help me!) Today is the first of June so my goal is to do SOMETHING at least 50 out of the next 61 days (June and July). I plan to ride my stationary bike, do Walk Away the Pounds, do some light weight lifting, and possibly walk. We'll see how it goes.

I'm proud of all you movers and shakers!

Ok, I am back from vacation and jumping in. I will somehow find the time to make it back to the gym today. My goal is to do 3 hours this week. Please someone harass the hell out of me mid week and make sure I am doing this! With the kids out of school now, I know that I will not be able to find as much time to go.

Aw, guys and gals - I'm far behind the game. I've only done 80 minutes so far. I'm supposed to be at 240 at this point.

My quitting my last pill to control my high blood pressure was a disaster. I got really sick with bad Migraines and my blood pressure spiked pretty high. I had to get back on, but what can I do? I'm starting to feel better just since last night. My blood pressure is getting back in check too. Who knows, I might have to take a little something for the rest of my life. It's still better than three a day.

The good thing is I lost all that Water weight and then an additional pound to boot!

Anyway, hope all your weekends were better than mine!

How's everyone doing so far this week? I'm about half way there and not sure I'll make my goal but I should come close to it. I switched from walking to cardio and strength/flexibility training so even though I'm burning about 3 times as many calories, my time has cut in half. Oh, and did I tell you? My muscles are killing me! Think that's a good thing though since I forgot I had most of those muscles.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
