I feel terrible now. I'm so excited for everyone but I just cannot seem to push through this plateau. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Have you talked to the DR or Bariatric Coordinator? It has taken me a long time to get good restriction. I have a 14cc APL.

I meet with my my NP every 6-8 weeks. I had a chat with him last time about waiting too long between fills. I have another fill at the end of the month...that will be my 7th. I'm usually very pragmatic but I can't figure out why I'm down lately. It MIGHT be that I now get my period every 14 days since I lost weight. I'm not jealous of everyone's successes just down that I'm not losing faster. I've been stuck at 180 for a month. It's driving me crazy. So...I'm hoping that after the next fill that I will see a few pounds off. I also went back to counting my daily caloric intake and making sure I got all of my Water in.

I know that my lack of exercise is seriously contributing to my slow weightloss. I'm telling you...it's ridiculous. I motivate people for a living and can't get off my rear end to walk for 30 minutes.

Thanks for the feedback. My NP is very understanding but he's also very busy. I'm going to talk to him about not waiting too long between fills and also about not being too stingy with them either. I have a 10cc APS band.

I'm posting my little numbers for anyone else out there in my boat. I lost 6 lbs on my pre-op diet and only 2 lbs in the last 10 days since banding on liquids. I am not sure if I am eating more than most but I am having hunger and definitely eating less. I started w/ a BMI of 31.9 the morning of surgery so will probably lose slower. I'm already becoming a head case because of this. I also am getting very creative w/ my blender and the sugar-free products b/c my sweet tooth has kicked back in.

Stephanie

so ur bmi was 31.9 wicked so that deffinatly means i can get the gastric banding done

Wow, do you know why you´re having your cycle so frequently?

Sure hope you can get some relief. I know it´s disappointing when the scale doesn´t move much. I´ve had mono the last few months, so exercise has been about NIL.

Keep us posted please.

I'm glad I came back to the forum. I feel more focused now. It's very easy to slip back into the pre-band lifestyle. My work schedule is crazy, which significantly impacts the amount of sleep that I get. I notice that when I don't sleep that I don't lose weight consistently. I'm not sure about my cycle and it's craziness. I was always on a 28 day cycle and now I feel like a PMS queen; my poor husband and son! As soon as I get a minute I'll make it to the ob/gyn. I've spoken to my PCP and my NP and both of them feel that it's that my estrogen levels are being effected by the weightloss.

Well...it was a ridiculously crappy week at work. I can't get anything down when my stress levels are up. I'm down four pounds this week. 68lbs. total.

I've had one fill and I'm stuck at a 65 pound loss with 33 more to go- I don't know if I want to try another fill seems the last time I had 1 cc put in I ended up having to have it removed due to not being able to swallow anything - OK I"M SCARED.

I have major skin slack too, only big thing on me now is my Belly is anyone else suffering from a big belly? I now have no legs or butt.. :)

I guess I won't meet my goal by May 19th to have lost the whole 98 pounds, but for now I feel good.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
