Everyone: list 3 POSITIVE things about the Lap Band!

Recommended Posts

1.) Eating a little bit and being so full!

2.) Losing weight and feeling better than I have (about myself and literally physically) than I have in years.

3.) It saved my life.

I believe that this website is here for people who have a bump in the road, and they tend to post just that. As this can be very discouraging for new people thinking about the band (and quite scary), I want to post all the wonderful things about this wonderful invention.

Yes, I can't eat bread, but I don't want to (I lose twice as much weight when I don't). No, I was not feeling full restriction on my first fill (it takes a few to find that perfect spot).

Even if you have a few complications, as I have been saying:

Would you rather be fat and unhealthy or thin and unhealthy? I think the choice is obvious!

This band is wonderful. I recommend it so much.

Everyone, keep on banding.

1) allowing me to do what I haven't been able to do on my own, nevermind the years I spent trying.............and ultimately failing.

2)the band is my new best buddy, not food :leaving:

3)finally back to doing things that I haven't been able to do in years and loving every minute of it!!! I've always exercised and now I can do so w/o so much pain.

My outlook is so much more positive and I feel like a new person already. It's a wonderful and vefy helpful feeling to know that I will actually meet my goals this time around, and in many more ways than just weight loss :sneaky:

Oh, and having to buy new clothes cuz the old ones just don't do it anymore. Gotta love trying on new clothes!

Well I have not had my band for long about 2 months. But the positive things I have noticed already are:

1.compliments from others on how you look (even though I don't want to believe it ,I see myself everyday)

2.wearing clothes smaller that I could never fit into before

3.Just an over all good feeling about myself

Yes I was one that had some problems and I do get discourage with the process sometimes ,not the band itself. Just I have to keep in my mind the weight took me awhile to put on ,it is not going to go away overnight.

I would not turn back time for anything. The only thing I did wish is that the Dr office that I went to was a little more informative on some things.

Only banded since 4/30 but there are already positive things coming my way - 1) losing weight is encouraging. 2)Having a true restriction from bread and Pasta which has always been a problem 3) Hope - to look towards the future and know that loss is on the horizon.

To look at a particular food and then just look away because your brain tells you it is not possible to "shove" it down it much easier to deal with then being on a "regular diet". Hope this makes sense to everyone else!!

I've only had my band a few days but here are the positives so far...

1) I am losing weight

2) Recovery is relatively easy

3) I am learning to have a new relationship with food.

I know it is something to look at a huge pile of bread and butter (which I usually attack with great abandon......) and just decide not to deal with it. I think in my current stage I could get it down with lots of chewing and Water but it is more work than I want to do over a stinkin' piece of bread and besides it is a huge reason for my weight issues. I have not had bread, soda or fast food since I was banded and I think that it where the majority of my weight loss to date has come from. Funny thing, I just don't miss it. Thank God!!

Having my kids tell me I look 30 (when I'm really 40)

Always being able to wear the "right" thing in the right circumstance - I never feel out of place or badly dressed anymore.

Cheap clothes. Normal size clothes cost so much less!

Hi Cb11213:

It's great that you have lost 28 lbs so far! Keep up the good

work! By the way, you have excellent reasoning about food.

You have to be mentally geared up for changing your eating

habits. That means giving up certain foods that cause you to

still remain heavy. The band is a great tool that can help you

eat the right portions, thus causing a significant weight loss.

Reasons for success with my band:

(1) Feeling good about my weight loss accomplishments

with the band.

(2) Learning how much and what to eat (for good health).

(3) Sharing with (other bandsters)

what I have learned so far during this experience.

Wishing you well!

Judie

I was banded on 4/23/08, almost 4 weeks ago. So the three things so far I love about my band are:

1) Weight Loss as slow as it is, it feels good.

2) With the weight loss I have noticed an increase in energy levels and not wanting to sleep as much

3) Clothes getting loser and just overall feeling great about the decision to do this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
