What is a typical day??

Recommended Posts

Are you talking calories or volume? I guess I will give you what I did for both!

I stayed between 800-1000 calories and ate about 3/4 -1 cup of food at a time. For me that worked really well. Some need to go a little lower in calories, some need a little higher. A lot of it depends on your exercise as well. If you are exercising a lot you may need to be betweeen 1000-1200.

I was exercising but I never plateaued so I figured if its not broken...don't fix it. Hope this is what you were looking for.

This is my typical day....lately.

Breakfast: 2 scrambled egg w/slice of cheese melted on them.

Lunch: cottage cheese (1/2C) and usually Soup (maybe 3/4-1C)

Supper: Baked Fish (3-4oz piece) steamed veggies (1/2-3/4C)

Some evenings I have 1 or 2 popsicles too.:frown:

1 or 2 glasses of skim milk a day

50-70 ounces of Water

12oz de-caf coffee

I'm interested in seeing what other people are eating though to get some other ideas!:crying:

I usually have about 1000 Calories a day. If I go less I generally stop losing. I usually have 3 1 cup meals a day, No snackies. It works for me, but everyone is different! I love to cook, and I live alone, so it is easy to freeze everything already with Portion Control applied. I don't consume very many liquid calories. On days I eat very low cal, I will supplement with a Protein shake.

Breakfast-

1 egg Over Easy

and

2 Slices Turkey Bacon

Or

1/2 Cup Cottage cheese

and

1/2 Cup Diced Pears

Lunch-

3oz lunch meat

1oz cheese

and

1/2 cup of a veggie or fruit

Dinner-

3oz of meat

and

1/2 cup of a Veggie

Some days are 600 cal, most go 800-1000 cal. I do not worry about carbs because if I do eat them it is never much!

Most people are supposed to have 800-1200 Calories a day. It depends on the Doctor. 600 Cals is never enough, people that eat that usually lose alot of hair. It is about being healthy and losing weight. I don't worry about carbs too much either. Just want to make sure I get in 80g Protein. Def switch to all fat free or low fat stuff though.

I suggest you read the 'Share Ideas. What did you eat today" thread in this forum - people have been posting for a LONG time and you can see that everyone is different - in types of food, bolumes, calories, carbs...just like 'regular people.

Find what works for you; eat a healthy variety, throw in some exercise, chew chew chew and drink your Water.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
