Penni60 45 Posted April 19, 2005 As I rejoice in my own mother's recovery process, I learn of a good friend of mine whose mother is on her death bed. She has fought the good fight of Pancreatic Cancer for the last 8 months. Jan, good friend, just informed me that she is at home with her mother and Hospice has been there and they don't expect her mother to last through the night. Please keep her in your prayers. Thank you so much for all your kindness and caring.

Penni60 45 Posted April 19, 2005 Ya know even though I am on a trip now this is not the the kind I need. I need a soul revitalizing vacation. Depression is a factor that I fight on a daily basis. I recognize the signs and symptoms and if I allowed myself I would fall into the deep ugly hole easily. I chose to jump back from it and flip it off. But when things happen like they have in the last few months that hole seems to get bigger and harder to ignore. I think John and I are planning on going away together ALONE somewhere when I get back from this trip. We have discussed that. I will relay your concerns, prayers and sympathies to Jan. I agree Hospice is a great thing. I often thought if I return to nursing that is one of the things I would love to do. I would much rather help with a transition to the next step than to cause that step. I felt I was causing alot of death when I was a cancer nurse. Simply because I was giving the chemo to the patient. SIGH!! Penni, So sorry to hear that. You have been flooded with death lately, you are going to have to take a break from all that. We dont want you getting depressed.
molynn 0 Posted April 19, 2005 I'm so sorry Penni. Your friend and her mom are in my thoughts and prayers. My mom died from pancreatic cancer 16 months ago. She also was cared for by hospice. She only lasted 6 months. It is a terrible, painful way to die. There is an organization here that is dedicated to finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. www.lustgartenfoundation.org I participate in their walk every July to raise money. Again, please accept my deepest sympathies.
