redheather 2 Posted June 6, 2008 I have just started my little journey--my op date was May28th, a little over a week ago. I started at 327.5 and my doc wants me at 145. Quite reasonable, I do say. I try very hard to NOT look at the numbers...they seem so overwhelming and scary on paper!! Instead, I am trying to focus on what I have already lost. Is that reasonable?? Instead of fearing the long journey ahead, I am enjoying the journey that I have already travelled and smiling at the path under my feet.
JoanieP 2 Posted June 8, 2008 Howdy ya'll...I haven't been on this thread yet, but I guess I qualify...I have already lost 92 lbs. since my surgery 5/12/06, and am looking forward to the last 18 or so to come off soon...I hope, I hope!!!!! I've picked 130 as my goal but will see how I feel when I get there. In my younger, thinner days I used to feel fat at 130, (I am only 5') but after being well over 200 for so many years and keeping my age in mind...I think 110 or 115 might be too low. I wish I had done this 10 yrs. ago and maybe I wouldn't have all the sagging skin. At 54 and being heavy for so many years ( at least 15) my skin just doesn't have the elastisity it used to. :driving: But all in all life is great!!! :incazzato: I'll be back.....Joanie :huggie:)

globally yours 0 Posted June 9, 2008 [instead, I am trying to focus on what I have already lost. Is that reasonable?? Instead of fearing the long journey ahead, I am enjoying the journey that I have already travelled and smiling at the path under my feet. That sounds very healthy to me Heather. Enjoy the journey. Where were you banded? I live in Southern Indiana, was banded on the 27th at Clark Memorial.
Lizalee 1 Posted June 9, 2008 I agree with you so much! I try not to focus on how much more to go, but enjoy the wonderful changes I've already experienced with my weight loss. The sucess I've already had inspires me to continue! Sometimes I get bogged down in plateau's. I get frustrated with what seems to be slow progress. Normally this would be enough convince myself to give up, it's too hard, there's too much to loose, I can't do this...eat that candy, Cookies, steak, etc 'cuz you know you want it! Now I've got the band to say...well, you're not really hungry, you can't fit any more in, so don't give up now...look what's you've accomplished in only 6 short months! dawnstunes 0 Posted June 9, 2008 CONGRATS!!!! I too am waiting to be able to say that I have less than 100# to go!! I got a fill on Thursday in my 4CC band. I am now at 2.8. I have been very conservative in getting fills because I was working on modifying my habits. My practitioner that does my fills tells me that I am doing a great job in that I am working on it as a whole, she calls me her model patient. I don't see it. I am bummed that I haven't lost more than I have but I know we should not compare. (Perhaps I would be down a little more if I had been a little more aggressive in getting filled every 6 wks. or so over the last 6 months.) Of course we aren't supposed to drink every meal. ;0) I guess when we have this much to lose that we get impatient. The non scale victories of being able to buy clothing at the stores VS ordering from a specialty catalog OR the stamina/tolerance of working in the garden and being outdoors are wonderful!! Keep up the good work everyone.
Fanny Adams 7 Posted June 10, 2008 @Dawnstunes: Congrats on what you have achieved! You've lost more than I have in six months, so don't think that isn't an achievement - it's wonderful! Slow and steady wins this race and we'll all get there in the end.
