Fist Fill and Not feeling different!!!

Recommended Posts

Had my first fill on 5/15 and to tell you the truth, I have not felt anything different! I am watching what I'm eating, and still loosing, but I never get that full feeling. (I just stop when I mentally think I had enough) I have a 4CC band, and my fill was 2.5. What am I suppose to be feeling????? Even drinking fluids all day doesn't fill me.... Is this normal??? I was expecting this instant full feeling and I got NOTHING....?? Should I be concerned?:woot:

Nope, you are right on track.

Most require more than just one adjustment to get any feeling of restriction.

After my first fill, I continued to eat normally. It wasn't until I got restriction that I started losing weight.

But if you can diet...do that, too. Your weightloss will be faster.

I believe most people need 2 or 3 (or more) adjustments before they feel restrictions.

Like the others said, if you get good restriction after only one fill, you are probably pretty lucky. It usually takes a couple of fills to reach your sweet spot. It is better to go slow with them than to be aggressive and risk being overfilled.

Hi Lucy! I have the same sized band. Got my fill to 2.3 on Friday. I have restriction, but not as much as I'd like. I can eat more but have chosen to stop. I honestly worry that there will come a time when I don't have the will power to stop. I won't see my doc for another two months so lets hope it doesn't happen before then- lol. My doc did say that the band moves up and down so restriction can vary from time to time. He also said that he's given fills and everything has been fine and two days later the patient couldn't get down Water. Hope this helps a little. And I wish you restriction from the band gods soon.-lol I also posted on you message board. Hope you find it . I swear I haven't forgotten my band buddy. :leaving::redface::sneaky:

im going through the same thing right now.. i was banded on april 2nd and just had my first fill on the 16th and i don't feel any restriction. i also know that i'm not helping myself whatsoever with my eating habits. i really don't eat that much but what i eat isn't good. with my doctors guidelines, i was back on solid food by week three. and personally, if i could go back, i'd wait till at least a month after surgery to eat regular foods. i'm trying to kick my butt back on track by going to meetings, making a food plan and getting another fill asap.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
