Im gaining weight. I cant wait until I get the surgery. Which is June 9th. I havent even started my liquids yet. Im getting quite depressed cause of the few pounds Im gaining. Guess its kinda my fault, I have been indulging in fattening foods, cause I know once I start the process I wont be able to have bad foods. All I can say is Im so looking forward to getting this. I know the bigger I get the more I dont feel like doing anything. I have no energy. Its time for a change. And I mean a big one. Anyway, I had to rant. Have any of you indulged in eating foods you know are bad, but you eat them cause you know once you start your pre op those foods are no longer ideal? Let me know. I just hope Im not alone on this one.

Please, don't feel bad because you are doing the right thing by having surgery. It is such a brave step to realize you have a problem you need help with. You will lose the weight you have put on.

I put on some weight on some "last meals" before surgery... we all did!... I have lost it and then some.

My "last meal" was In-N-Out... omg, that was good.

Here's a hint: Stop weighing yourself. Really, don't weigh yourself... especially every day!

Don't feel bad and just count those days until surgery!:woot:

I have to say that I always thought I would indulge a lot before surgery, and I especially planned to go out to eat for a Last Supper. For me, it didn't work out that way. I was so disgusted with how fat I was and how I had been feeding my face that I just couldn't do it anymore. I started cutting back, but I did have some of my favorite sandwiches and recipes that have rice in them, knowing that after surgery, bread and rice will be eliminated or very limited. Then it just seemed like my surgery date came up so fast, and with doctor's orders to lose 10 pounds by surgery date, I was afraid to eat too much. So I never did go have my Last Supper and looking back now, I don't regret it.

I'm very very surprised that I didn't over-indulge like crazy. I don't blame anyone else who does. I guess I'd just done so much of it over the previous few months that I'd finally had my fill.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't even gotten my evaluation done yet; but, I'm eating bad foods :ohmy:knowing I will not be able to eat them before too long. I do know that my insurance does not require a waiting period so I'm hoping it does not take longer than two to three months before I have the surgery. How long did it take you once you had the evaluation? Did they want your insurance deductable up front?:woot:

I'm glad to find I'm not the only one with the problem. I have my surgery scheduled for the end of September and it seems that ever since I decided to have it done I can't seem to stop eating all the "goodies" that I know will be banned afterward. I'm afraid that I'm going to gain another 20 lbs before the surgery. Anyone have any ideals how to rein in the bad eating? I keep saying no more and then next thing I know I'm at it again. My doctor did say he would like me to lose 10 lbs before I see him again in September for my pre op meeting. Simon

What took so long for me is the psychiractric part of it. I went through my normal therapist, and he took about 3 months, or so. Other than that it was a breeze. And it wasn't long to get approved. Which Im so happy about. So, next monday starts my liquids. Im a little scared. I hope I have the will to keep going with it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
