Is plastic surgery inevitable?

Recommended Posts

I'm quite open minded on this issue, I would support almost anyone's decision to get a Tummy Tuck.< /p>

for me, looking good in a swim suit is not on my top 10 list of reasons why I want to have the lap band. If I end up with a lot of loose skin, I plan on wearing it like a badge of honor.

Tyler,,,having a Tummy Tuck isn't all about being vain..(yes I will stand up and admit I do want to look good in a pair of jeans with the shirt tucked in. But its also about all that loose skin,,,causing yeast infections,,,we don't want me to talk about this indepth...visualize...ha ha

Doing the tummy tuck will that problem....

I suppose it is vanity a bit, and although I love swimming, it is more that I'd like to go on holidays for once in my life and not dread going to the beach. It seems a bit sad that I will replace the fat issue with the gross sharpai skin instead. However, i'll have to see, as I'm not made of money either! Shame that our skin can't just bounce back! But I'm working on it.

But what about when that badge of honor causes infections, makes you jean size 4 sizes up from where it would be if you only didn't have that loose skin.... sure it makes you look better and it is vanity in some aspects but it is also your mental health along with your physical health....

I went from a size 16 to a 10 with a TT..... that is a lot of loose skin why should I carry it around? Losing weight is the badge of honor being healthy is a badge of honor not extra skin and stretch marks for me!!!

you have stated your case well. I'll have to reconsider if I get there.

I don't think there is any doubt that I will need at least a Tummy Tuck. I also have noticed that because I have always had many chins (or a least one big extra one) that as I am losing, that is sagging as well. I wonder if I would need a whole face lift or just some sort of lift.

Heather,,,wow that is a huge clothing change for you. I know of a owman who hasn't had a Tummy Tuck and I dont think shes interested in getting one. Looking at her,,,,you can see the loose skin,,,around her nexck area...and well if she wears cloth fitting pants,,,her front looks like a butt. All that loose skin stuffed inside I guess.

I am vain there is no question about it.... once my thighs are done I should be size 6-8 (already there in skirts and dresses chunky thighs are now the bane of my existence) Some people are less vain and don't mind the extra skin but it drives me nuts to try on pants and have them way huge in the waist and then too small in the thighs.... it doesn't make sense so getting my thighs done is a vanity thing and a mental health thing to make me happy.

When you are more content in your body and the way you look the happier you are the better a life you have..... if you can be happy without PS go for it...... I have a great life with or without plastic but I love the way I look with it!!!!

And if it came to it I would do face work too!

Ive always been indifferent to cosmetic surgeries...to each his/her own. I personally would...

I know I will want me face done,,,looking at my mother,,,and pictures of my grandmother,,,I know I will want a tuck or two.

There is a young woman I work with who has a mom who is adicted to face lifts and other cosmetic surgeries...she had her eye lids done,,her eyelids and eyebrows tattooed,,,lips injected and tattooed, breasts done, Tummy Tuck, chin, and a dimple...I learned how a dimple is made. It grossed me out.

I have heard that the province will often pay for the pannus reduction because this is not just an issue of vanity but also of health. Please look into this before picking up the tab for the operation.

I am having a TT on August 20th. I have lost 63 pounds so far, with another 23 to go.

In terms of cost, I am paying $6700.00. So its basically the price of an awesome vacation, or two average vacations.

When people at work ask, what are you doing for vacation this summer, I say "tummy tuck"

Here is the irony......by November I will have a "beach ready" body, but no money to go on a Caribbean Beach Holiday. I think I will just turn the heat up, and prance around the house in a bathing suit !

Sure, I talked to lots of people that have had TT (not necessarily banded people). Everyone believes their surgeon is best. I started asking why they felt that person was best.

Then I asked my GP for some recommendations. He made 3. Coincidentally one of them had operated on my wrist back in 1992 when I had a different GP.

I ended up going for a consult with Dr Lista at SWLC and Dr Brown at Briarwood (wrist doc, in Oakville). Both seemed competent, and the decision would have been really tough........except Dr Lista quoted me $8500.00 and Dr Brown quoted $6700.00

I am not saying that I would try to save a buck on something as important as surgery, but when all else seemed equal.......

A friend of mine who had Gastric Bypass used Dr Grace in Burlington. He is one of the few surgeons that is willing to work with OHIP, so he may bill a panni to OHIP which will reduce your cost.

Good Luck with your research. I started researching when I was home recovering from my band surgery! If only I could be that pro-active when it comes to household chores.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
