I made a really great crustless pizza yesterday.

Preheat over to 350 degrees.

4 very larg portabella mushroom caps

20 oz can Italian style tomatoes

2 cups Italian blended cheese

3 T chopped basil

2 T minced onion

1/4 cup chopped pepperoni

2 T roasted garlic

1 T olive oil

1 T dried oregano

coarse salt

1. scoop some of the flesh from inside the mushroom caps.

2. place them on a cookie sheet.

3. in a bowl, mix the cheese, basil, onion, pepperoni

4. in another bowl mash the garlic, olive oil, and oregano

5. fold in the tomatoes

6. spoon over each mushroom then top with the cheese mixture

7. bake in the oven until the cheese melts and the mushrooms have softened.

I just used jarred pizza sauce instead of doing the tomatoes just because I don't really care for Tomato chunks. It was really good though. I was able to eat about half of one mushroom, but I don't have any restriction yet. I am sure you can substitute any meat that you want. I used turkey pepperoni for less fat.

These are my Favorite South Beachy snacks!

  • Natural Peanut Butter (no sugar or corn Syrup, just peanuts and salt) 2 Tablespoons with sugar free Honey (I get mine atWal-Mart) on celery.
  • Sargento's skim Mozzarella sticks (I buy mine at Sam's and they taste 100% better than any others out there.)

  • Cabot Farms low-fat Colby Jack cheese Snacks (Get these at Sam's too. These are little pre-portioned cheeses. Awesome!)
  • Handful of Pistachios (about 30, and I get with the shell, so it takes me longer to eat them!)

  • Laughing Cow Lite cheese and Triscuits or celery (French Onion is my favorite, but they sell the Garlic Herb at Sam's)
  • Roasted Edamame (I buy it in bulk at Sprouts, but I think most fancy Grocery stores that have a bulk section will have them. The

wasabi ones are good, too, but be careful! They can knock your socks off!

  • Cure 81 ham sliced a little thick. (I get the unsliced cure 81 hams in the meat section at Wal-Mart and take it over to the deli and have them slice it for me. SO MUCH CHEAPER! Even cheaper than the pre-sliced ones!) You can also keep this around for some yummy eggs in the morning!

And for those who are doing South Beach, for your 100 calorie treat....

klondike, Slimabear, Fudge Bars.

OMG these are hands down the best thing in the world. TO DIE FOR!!! If you are a chocoholic, you too will feel the Love for these!

Hi,

I am a nut when it comes to finding recipes....I have scoured Barnes and Noble and came up with the best best best cookbook. It is a cookbook that is all about low carbs and counting carbs. A lap band is a lifestyle change not about a diet, but we all know that. So basically all our doctors say low carb low carb. Well, diabetics must adhear to a low carb diet for life, so I read the cookbooks for Atkins, south beach, no white stuff....on and on I can go, but the book that is awsome is the Betty Crocker Diabetic cookbook. It has everything from Soups to Desserts to main meals, cream of broccoli Soup, eggs fratatti, fish, meat, custard. It is amazing and I dont mind the low carbs. I am actually doing so well with this cookbook my blood sugar is running low so I have to add a few more carbs into my diet. I am also dumping ketones into my urine...which means not enough carbs...Hope this helps

I can give you a low-carb pizza recipe that will blow your mind. The crust is made out of egg, parmesan cheese, and (hmmmm, is that it?) Can't remember exactly but you can pick it up like a real pizza, it doesn't taste "eggy" AND it will probably go down super easy for us banders. (Adds "find recipe" to my list of things to do today.)

Did you ever find the recipe to this low-carb pizza? It has the makings of something fantastic!!!! I hope you can find and share!!! Please?

Alright then, if fat content is not an issue, I can give you a low-carb pizza recipe that will blow your mind. The crust is made out of egg, parmesan cheese, and (hmmmm, is that it?) Anything that you deep fried in breading before, can be deep fried with flaxseed and egg and parmesan cheese. Oh my gosh, it sounds gross but honestly, I'd rather have that than real floured breading. You can use flaxseed for salmon cakes, chicken tenders, fried mozzarella sticks, even as the breading in meatloaf!

One of my favorite low-carb sweet treats was half a cup of cottage cheese, one packet of splenda, and a Jello cup. It was low-cal, low-carb, sweet, and filling and it looked/tasted like a parfait!

I think I'm going to low-carb this summer while I'm off school and can exercise really regularly. I'd like to drop a significant amount of weight in the two months I'm off so a lot of people will notice the loss when I go back in early August.

Keep this thread bumped and I'll keep adding to it. A great site for low-carb recipes is LowCarbFriends, by the way.

these sound good! what is flaxseed? i've heard of the oil.

I take split chicken breastseason with mrs dash, brown them, remove the skin and brown again.( I hate touching raw chicken...lol) Then I throw it in a crock-pot and throw in a jar of Walmart Brand Black Bean and White Corn Salsa, turn it on high and its done in a few hours. Its so tender and juicy. Yummy...

I also do the same with the chicken and instead of salsa, I add a tiny amount of Water and Franks Red hot sauce.

I then measure out my TBS of Blue cheese Dressing and add more Franks Red Hot Sauce and have my version of hot wings.

* I don't do the bleu cheese often because of the fat content. I prefer the light and not Fat Free because I do want to enjoy the little amount I eat and I do account for it.

I just love the BumbleBee Sundried Tomato and Basil Tuna... Its sooo good. You can buy a 5 oz. peel lid and a 3 oz. that also comes with 5 Ritz crackers. I have to divide both portions because I cannot eat even 3 oz. and my boys eat the Ritz Crackers.

I hope you enjoy these.

I tried a version of this one today. YUMMMMOO!

I bought some already cooked roasted whole chicken legs. I thought the dark meat would be more tender. (or you can get the whole chicken) Cut it up into small pieces put on the hot sauce {to taste}, few chunks blue cheese, & 1 tbl sp. blue cheese dressing. THANKS!!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
