Tristin 1 Posted May 17, 2008 Well, I just had my 1st fill, it was so simple and easy! It only took a few minutes . . . I had 2cc and now I have 4cc. I can't say I feel much different but I am told that it can take up to 2 weeks before I feel a restriction. Is this true . . .
linesj 0 Posted May 17, 2008 I have no restriction yet, and am very concerned (now that I have the band) about not getting over full. So I'm anxious to know how other answer your question. I was told clear fluids for 2 days after a fill. Did you do that?
boatmonkey 0 Posted May 17, 2008 I just got my first fill today. It almost didn't happen. 8 needles later and about 20 pokes I now have 4cc (had none before). I'm on clear fluids for 24hrs and then full fluids for 24 hours and then mushies for 24 hours. I can literally feel the Water trickle through.Very wierd feeling
sugrbear 1 Posted May 17, 2008 (edited) I just had my 2nd fill yesterday, I was Fluid yesterday, mushies for 2 days, I have heard every response there is to this, some say they felt restriction, others were too tight, some felt the restriction weeks later, others felt no restriction until their 3, 4 or even 5 fill. Many of them still lost weight, some slowly, some didn't, etc so you are going to have to wait and see what your body does and it reacts. I now have 4cc and I don't feel any tightness, restriction or as some say, the feeling of food going down yet. But I am losing and I am eating the way I should be and feel great. My belief is that if I can lose steadily, have my fills to keep from feeling overwhelming hunger, stay on my food plan portions, and "not" be tight, restricted, throwing up or uncomfortable that is the ideal way to live. I have read post and met one person who has lost over 80 lbs with no fills at all. So you see it is all in your body, how you use the tool, and manage your new life style. Some of us will have to work a little harder at Portion Control, some at regular exercise, some at good choices, etc, I would exercise patience and don't live on your scale. Look for all the victories you will be achieving. Lost inches, better health, a glow on your cheeks, a happier outlook, less meds. New clothes, the power you have gained from taking control of your life. Good luck. Edited May 17, 2008 by sugrbear 1 lizb88 reacted to this
Meme1504 0 Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) I too, only have had one fill ,no restriction more then before. I have to wait six weeks for my next one. I called them up and asked if I can move it up and I was told no. They said it takes sometimes that long to work. This is the first time I heard that. So I guess my Dr office is strict. Aww well I think I have 3 more weeks to wait. It is very discouraging though. Edited May 18, 2008 by Meme1504
Sades 4 Posted May 18, 2008 Everyone's restriction is at different levels but 4cc in a 10cc band is not very much. I have 8cc in my band and I can still eat. Of course I'm no longer as hungry as I used to be which means that I can go without food much longer. I get stuck at times so I know I have some restriction. Hang in there, it will happen but probably after a few more fills.
Tristin 1 Posted May 18, 2008 I had liquids the day of my fill and back to normal eating the next day. I will monitor my weight loss . . . I feel great and my portion size has changed a lot. I can eat more then a cup but not much more. I am happy so far . . . but patience is my strength lol
