THis is kind of a morbid question, but I have to ask it with the amount of cancer in my family history. Have any of you heard of someone going through radiation or chemo with the band? I'm going to check with my dr's office too. I don't have it and hope I never do, but just trying to really be thorough.

Yes. It can be done. I have cancer and have already finished my treatments before I got my band. BUT, it's the only weight loss surgery I could have because of the 'adjustability' part. I can't imagine someone ever worrying about me being too thin, but if that or nutrition were an issue, they can unfill me for treatments.

I hope you never have to find out personally! Best wishes!

Not only heard of it BUT I am the cancer patient with the band!! I have Follicular Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. No cure but treatable. I went thru chemo the entire time. I have me next treatment on Monday. I will Celebrate by bandiversery next month one year on Jaune 27th 2007 was my rebirth. I was on 12 pills and 2 shots a day for diabeties, blood pressure, etc etc. Now 1 pill per day well plus a Vitamin.

Do not let cancer hold you back. The way I see it. Once you are diagnosed with Cancer that is your permission to do everything you have always wanted to do.. 70 pounds later and still loving my band!!

I too just finished my treatments...except I am on a daily immunosuppresant now. I asked the surgeon what if I need treatments again and have complications...he also mentioned the band is reversable, that is the best part about it. Best of luck to everyone and to you Bamalama congrats!!!

Just think of it this way- obesity is a contributer to cancer- by getting the band, and losing excess weight, you are reducing your risk of getting Cancer. With a strong family history myself, it is one more thing I can do to contribute to a healthier me!

I wish eveyone the best of luck on their journeys, and am praying for all of those whose lives have been touched by Cancer.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
