I was also banded on March 13th in Dallas and had my second fill on Monday and boy howdy do I fill RESTRICTION. I have not been able to eat anything since, I have been on Clear Liquids. I now have 6cc in my band. Dont get frustrated, you will hit your sweet spot. I think I have found mine. Good Luck

I am sorry you are frustrated, but please remember you've only had ONE fill. If you haven't found your sweet spot after four fills, then be mad and frustrated. This is a slow, steady process.

I'm not sure how much you've had the opportunity to research about fills yet, but almost ALWAYS people say it's a minimum of two fills, but quite often it's the third or fourth fill that is the magical one that gets them to the "sweet spot."

I don't blame you at all for being impatient, either. I don't know about you but I've been fat ever since puberty and once I was able to have the surgery, I wanted the weight OFF, like yesterday! But I have to keep telling myself I didn't gain it overnight, I'm certainly not going to lose it overnight and I made a conscious decision to have the band and not the DS or RNY, so it will take longer.

Just know we are all right there with you. Come here, vent, yell, scream, I'll be screaming with ya! That is what we are all here for, to support one another through these tough times.

If anyone thinks losing weight is easy, or having the band to lose it is a cop-out, I'd like to show them my size 11's in their mouth.

Jacole, it will probably take you one or two more fills to feel that restriction, but it will come and then this frustration you are feeling will be a thing of the past..

TKingston, you are clearly too tight. If you can't eat anything and can only have clear liquids you are doing this wrong... the purpose of the band is to be able to eat small healthy meals, not live on liquids. I see this a lot on this forum and I don't see why people bother with this surgery if they aren't going to do it right or think it's "cool" to not be able to eat. If you told your doctor or fill center you can't eat, they would take some out. Hopefully you'll see the light and get a slight unfill.

CoolCrystal, thank you for saying that to TKingston. I meant to add that myself later, but I am glad you did.

If four days out you still cannot have anything but clears, you really do need to contact your fill person and talk about a SLIGHT unfill. Not being able to eat anything is not your sweet spot. Leaving a too tight band is a set up for ulcers, slippage and many other issues, please call your doc.

I am feeling much better today. I am able to eat mushys this morning with not trouble. I think the intial fill was a little tight but has loosed tremendously this morning. Also, I have been in contact with the doctors office twice and living 5 hours (drive) from them they considered me seeing what today brought and things are much better. Thanks for the advice.

I do not think this is "cool" not being able to eat. I live 5 hours from the fill center and have been in contact with my doctor twice and I am feeling much better this morning and moved on to the mushy stage. Thanks for the advice.

Okay, great. Well from the sound of your post you seemed excited and even said you found your sweet spot... so to me it seemed like you were happy with that. It sucks there aren't more fill centers around... i see lots of folks having to drive hours away for fills/unfills.. very sad :-(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
