I am now a bonafide Bandster!!!

Recommended Posts

I got banded on the 14th with Dr. Chaisson down here in Tucson. I'm really surprised at how good I feel. It's just hurting in the port site, and as long as I keep up with my pain meds it's not that bad at all.

I've also already dropped 3.4lbs since I was banded. WOOT! (Too bad it won't keep dropping that fast. lol)

Kristey, congratulations and welcome to Bandland. And don't worry about how fast it comes off. My wife is 2.5 years out and she is down 85 lbs. But the scale has NEVER gone up. And Joy is one of those ladies that thinks it is unladylike to sweat, so not much exercise. With the right foods and exercise, you might be surprised at how fast it DOES come off. Many happy loses!!!

I was banded 6 May by Dr. Schuartz. Really didn't know there were other doc's doing banding in AZ. The surgery went OK, but when I went to post-op appt, I was surprised to find out I don't go back to see him unless there is a problem. Go for my first fill the second week of June to a fill center off of Kolb. I am one of those people that need my hand held, felt like he said "wham bam, thank you ma'm'.

I am in Benson, was interested in your support group in Tucson. Do they just meet in the morning? I work at Ft Huachuca.

Good luck with your banding.

I've only been to one meeting so far and it was at 10am. Supposedly the next one will be around noon or 1pm. I'll post it once Iget the email for the time and place!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
