Hi my name is Ann and I'm a Slow Loser

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Not only am I a loser but I am a slow loser. Sounds like an insult to me.

Anyway I was banded on 12/13/07 on that day I weighed 248lbs. I last saw my doctor on 5/6/08 and my official weight with him was 228.

20lbs thats it...:confused2:

At my last visit I reached 6cc's in my 10cc band. I have a lot of restrictions with it so I hope I have reached my preverbial "Sweet Spot". I'll keep you all posted to see if this is in fact my sweet spot. I go back to the doctor June 10.

I just want to lose as fast as some of the others. Its discouraging.

I totally feel your pain. I was banded on Dec. 26, 2007 and I haven't lost much weight either. I just had a fill last Thursday and I can barely eat anything. I have already lost 4 lbs in 1 week. I know its hard not to get discouraged but hang in there and eventually you will see a difference.

Best wishes to you and yours!!!!!!!!!

I'm right in the same boat with you. I was banded 11/1/2007 and I've only lost 35 pounds and I've had four fills. I still don't have the restriction that I think I should have but I do have some restriction now. My problem is my doctor does fills under flouroscope & I can only get in about every 12 weeks. I don't have another fill appt. until 6/30. I have not lost any weight since the first 6 weeks after my fill. I get that you are discouraged cause we are rowing that boat together sister!

I'm a slow loser as well. I was banded August 2007. I was down 30 pounds. It's extremely hard trying to lose even with the band. I've had one fill and that was last november. I will be having a fill done this Wednesday. I'll keep you posted.

Hang in there -- slow losing is still losing, and the pounds add up eventually. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
