I was banded on May 13 and my port site is still really sore too. The gas pains are a little better today. I have been trying to walk around the house as much as possible. I am having a lot of rumbleys in my tumbley too. It is growling as I type. I am really looking forward to starting full liquids tomorrow. I am getting sick of the clear stuff. Most of the stuff with Protein, I don't like. So, I have been living off Water, popsicles, and chicken broth. There is so much more I like on the full liquid diet where I can get my protein in. I am also hoping the full liquids will help with the diarrhea.

Nice to hear what other people are experiencing. It is nice to know we are not alone. Good luck to everyone!

have you tried the Kashi Go Lean shakes another bandster recommended them and it has been my lifeline. No funky after taste! I have to be on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks and I am just sipping Water, broth and juices plus 2 or 3 shakes a day. I am sure I am not doing enough but between the gas and severe port pain don't want much except to take pain meds and sleep

I was banded on May 1st. I also had the pressure/gas pains high in the middle of my stomach. My doc said that it is normal. I am now over 2 weeks out and the pain is gone. I think it really takes a while to get all of the gas/air out from the operation.

Good luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
