Hi all

I'm 22 and I was banded 3 years ago I was 176 pounds and lost up to 66 pounds but currently I have put back 22 pounds. I don't know where to start with my experience with this little monster. There are days when I love it and I thank God a million times for making this decision. But there are other days when I just want to get rid of it.

The only complication I am currently facing is acid reflux. I wake up at night feeling like my esophagus is on fire.

Salwa:wink:

If I were you I'd check to make sure there was no band erosion.....I had it and it was accompanied with sever acid reflux ( and weight gain)

Those are the types of things that you really need to go in and see your Dr about or get back into a Dr for. So many different things could be going on. I notice from these sites people that have had their bands longer forget to get maintaince checks on their bands every 6 months after hitting their goals. We're not Dr.s and this sounds like a Dr type issue you should have checked, as well as probably just needing a maintance check. Good luck.

You definitely need to see your doctor. I just had my pre-op appointment yesterday and they said reflux and burning sensations in the esophagus are a sign that there is a potential problem.

Best of Luck to you... go as soon as possible and let us know how you make out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
