Ruthie,

I have just made the decision to go on 30APR to have it done with Dr. Aceves...I would also like to know if anyone has gone to him and what they think.

Hi,

Yes, I went to Dr. Aceves and he is wonderful...I have had no complications whatsoever.

I have never gotten a fill though - but lost 25 lbs in the first 6 weeks and the band has helped me keep it off.

Good luck to you,

Paula

Sharon. I'm glad evrything went well. I have a few questions for you if that's ok? Is the facility as nice as in the pictures? Is it clean and sanitary? I am leary because it's Mexico. Although I have heard good things I am a big chicken, especially when i will be asleep in a diferent country.

Can I ask the price difference between US and going to Mexico for this? I know my clinic charges about $16,900 for the surgery for those who pay out of pocket. How much does it cost to go down there? I am trying to help a friend (whose insurance does not cover it) find a way.:(

Dr. Aceves and his team did my band -- I'm so happy with everything! It is $8200, $8000 if you drive yourself. Your hotel the night before is paid for, and 2 nights in the hospital after your surgery (I chose to stay only one night.)

Everything is SO SO clean, the nurses are fantastic, all of your doctors come to talk to you about every step of what will happen.

I haven't heard of any of Dr. A's patients having complications, just hundreds and hundreds of positive reviews!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
