I'm being kicked off my insurance because it's my mothers (I'm currently unemployed) and I'm turning 23 August 7th since I am turning 23 the age where insurance no longer covers (which we didnt know until yesterday) On December 31st I will be taken off.

Before we were told as long as my mother could have me on her taxes and I lived with her there would be no problem but there is.

So today I called the insurance and talked to the lady I always talked to, she said if we had the doctor's office fax all my past history that I had and weight loss to them that they could possibly shorten my 6 month diet to where it wasn't so close and down to the wire in December.

Well they faxed the information and She called back said within a week I should know if it can be shortened.

I sure hope it can I don't want to get this far and have to end this whole journey.

Wish me luck. I sure hope something works out.

Are you in school? Some insurance companies will allow you to stay on your parents insurance if you have proof you are a full time student.

Community College, University, just a school.

Ya, I think if you are in school they cover you til your 25. Maybe check and see if you could get a low-interest stafford loan so you are still on their insurance.

I know how that is...

What if you found a dayjob and took four night classes? That would be 12 hours, which would qualify you and buy you some time.

Its a tough situation. I hope you get it figured out.

I am trying to get back to school myself so I understand where your at.

So My insurance called me back yesterday about maybe shortening the 6 month diet so I won't be so close to December with my surgery when I am getting kicked off insurance Dec 31st.

She said as of now they can't do anything but if I lose a good amount in the next month or 2 that they might be able to shorten it then.

So here's to more waiting and worrying that everything won't get done in time. I sure hope everything works out.

I wish I wasn't turning 23 this year now! Oh well.:rolleyes2:

Do you have any history with taking weight loss medicine being prescribed by a Dr or anything? If so they will honor that like that person said. Think realllllyyyy hard and if so see if u can get a copy of the medical records and fax them in... I truly hope everything will work out...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
