I always asked to be numbed first. The only sensation i feel when they are adding the Fluid is some pressure. I had my 11th fill yesterday and not once was i ever in any type of pain.

I'm going in for my 4th fill tomorrow. My first two fills were with my original surgery doctor. He numbed the area first with several injections. The first injection burns a little-then it goes numb. No problems or pain during those fills. When I went for my 3rd fill (new doctor) he doesn't believe in numbing, said 1 stick vs 2 sticks. I was a little nervous, but he assured me it wouldn't hurt. He did my fill and it was no problem. Actually, I think I prefer it this way because there wasn't the burning sensation, just a slight poke. Tomorrow I have a different doctor, so I'm wondering what "style" he uses. I'm always nervous going in for a fill......especially when they just feel and poke. How can they find that thing? My always have, but you hear the stories of how a lot miss. I'm praying that this new doctor for me does as well as the ones in the past!

hey Melissa

I am a wuss too, I've been getting fills and unfills for the last 3 years. It hurt me but I survived and so will you! Just be strong and breath. It is my worst part of the whole thing cuz I'm scared of needles!

good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
