I'm so proud of us!

Some of you have done wonderfully well on losing weight, others are struggling (me included!), but why I'm proud is our change in attitude. I can tell a difference in how everyone is approaching life - as in actually living it as opposed to watching it go by, and everyone sounds so much happier, livelier, vigorous, excited. I can tell by your stories of life changes, the excitement of shopping for clothes, getting new hobbies and interests, etc.

And I'm so happy to have found this group. It's nice to see how everyone is, get my butt kicked when needed :tongue2:, and share. I'll shut up before I start singing sentimental oldies.

Love ya guys!

I agree. And since I haven't told anyone of my surgery except for DH and kids, it can sometimes get hard and make me want to fall off the band wagon. But then I come on here and chat with my LBT friends and it gives me a surge of willpower and I remember why I am doing this again. so thanks everyone for sharing this journey with me also.

Me too, me too !! :w00t::hurray: It's been great getting to know everyone and watch all the progress. Some of you have been inspirational, some of you have touched my heart and thank you for all the support. It's still a long journey for some of us but it will be much easier walking alongside you.:thumbup:

Yes, this is how I feel too. I've only told dh and a very few close relatives and two friends. Okay, that sounds like a lot of people, but it really isn't! Nobody where I live now (I moved a year ago) knows that I've done it. One person here has noticed my weight loss but I haven't said anything about the band and I never will.

There's been times when I don't have time to log on, and I get out of touch, start feeling a bit lonely and down. I'm not at that sweet spot and if I don't work at it really hard, no weight comes off. But then I come on here and it's great motivation to talk to everyone and "remember why I am doing this again."

I fully agree, Linda. I feel more accountable when I'm on the board. I've been dealing with a TON of stress these past couple of weeks and have been very bad and I know I've gained weight, I'm just afraid of the scale. But I'm getting back on the wagon and look where I popped up...the board! LOL

It is really great to have somewhere to go to talk about the challenges and struggles of not only losing weight, but losing weight with the band. It is an entirely different ballgame. And I swear...the next person I hear that says having the band is cheating, I get to hit with a baseball bat.

Steph, if someone told me that having the band is cheating, I would find it hard to resist the urge not to pop them on the head. It's cheating to have major surgery and have a plastic donut put over our stomachs? It's cheating to feel like your guts are going to explode because you forgot to chew something to miniscule bits? What nerve! Did whomever tell you this need to lose weight? If so, give her/him the name of your surgeon so she could "cheat" too. If a thin person accused you of teaching, tell her where she could shove her ignorant opinion.

LOL...it was a sheriff's deputy that I worked with. The one that keeps commenting on how much weight I'm losing. He asked if I had had any kind of surgery to lose the weight and I caved and told him. He asked me some questions about it and then I said that "I still have to work hard to get the weight off." He said, "Yeah, right..." and walked off. He didn't believe me. Ugh. That was annoying. And the very reason I have not told anybody else IRL that I have the band. That reaction would kill me if I had to hear it all the time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
