Pregnant Finally But Now What

Recommended Posts

:tt2:Hey everyone I got banded on March 13 07 and have lost about 92 pounds. Went and got third fill done 2 weeks ago and found out last week I finally am pregnant. This is a wonderful thing since due to my weight I had polysistic ovarie and was unable to concieve children so yes there is hpe. But how long should I wait has anyone else gone through this?? How long do you have to wait after having the baby before you can get your band tightened again??

u actually need to let your Dr. know right away because they will unfill u until u deliver and wait yr 6weeks to fill u up again.. Congrats.. Thats exactly what happened to me when i lost my weight the first time, but i didn't have the band... so if it should happen again.. it shouldnt be that hard to get the weight off...

I just had my surgery on May 7th and asked my doc the same things as I have PCOS too. He said I could get pregnant any time after the band and don't have to wait. He said when I get pregnant come in and have the fills removed so I won't have restrictions. That way the baby can get the nurishment it needs. He also said after the baby you want to wait until your done breast feeding and then I can do it anytime I feel ready after that.

Congrats! I'm so happy I've found your post. I as well have PCOS and have not been able to conceive. I'm hoping to be banded in the near future. Best of luck! I bet you are sooo happy! Congrats again all around!

That's interesting. My doc suggests not getting pregnant for two years after band placement (seems a bit long to me). I'm sure this is to ensure that maximum weight loss has occurred before pregnancy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
