I went for my initial consultation today for a Tummy Tuck. Now the long battle and wait begins. I'm going to do my best to get insurance to pay for this. The ps felt that I should have a chance since I have so much trouble with rashes and back pain. Fortunately for me my rash was horrible today and the ps took lots of pictures. The ps also instructed his office staff to flag my file and push it through as fast as possible. I want to try and have this done by the end of June, if possible, since I work with the school system and will be off work.

I want to thank everyone who has been posting about their journeys, it really helped prepare me for the consultation. I was mentaly prepared to have pictures taken and stand basically naked in front of other people. Also, thanks to all of you, a lot of what he told me I already knew. This is a great site!

Good luck with this. I too work for a school district but our insurance REFUSES to pay for anything like this. So I took out ANOTHER loan to pay for this, but it will so be worth it. I couldn't have it done until July 3...but that is fine with me because I will be able to run in a half-marathon before surgery. Good luck and my fingers and toes are crossed for you!

Best of luck to you Nip50. It seems like the ladies posting here have been on a real winning streak with the insurance companies, so I'm guessing yours will come through as well, but I am still sending good vibes your way.

I never thought I'd say something like this, but WOW, I am so jealous of your skin conditions ladies!!! I mean, who would have ever thought that something like this could save you thousands of dollars!!!!

I keep looking, wishing, hoping that a rash will appear somewhere on my lower abdomen, but so far nothing.................

Really rotten luck, is all I can say .

I agree with you, I never thought I would be jealous of a rash either.

I've suffered for over 15 years with rashes under the panus and if I can get insurance to pay for this it will have been well worth it. Tomorrow I have to see my pcp to have him write a letter also to help convince the insurance company that this is medically necessary. I also told the ps that I will fight this tooth and nail and he stated with how bad my rash was that he would too.

Wish me luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
