melliott74 0 Posted May 13, 2008 I lost eight (in the liquid stage) then gained six back when I was told to eat real food. My doctor does not put any Fluid in the band when it is placed. Is that why I am not losing? I am trying to watch what I eat. I started excercising 30-45 min on the treadmill. He will not put any fluid in until I am four weeks post op. Is that normal? He is a very conservative doctor. Is there anything else I can try?
aubrie 6 Posted May 13, 2008 Up your Water intake. You need it anyway, and you could be retaining Water. Remember, you're a little swollen from surgery. Try to avoid salty Soups etc. I know you're on mushies, but make wise choices. Look on this forum for ideas on appropriate mushy foods. I posted there as well. Stay away from ice creams or other high fat, high calorie foods. Don't eat more than a cup at a time, for each meal. If you're hungry, drink water. Don't drink during meals. It will wash out your pouch and you'll be hungry again right away. If you're having trouble with BMs, ask your doctor what to do. I was major backed up for about a month after surgery. I had to take milk of magnesia when it got bad.

Jo Skinnie 0 Posted May 13, 2008 Don't be so hard on yourself! You are still healing. I was told not to expect weight loss during the time before surgery and the first fill. Everyone is different, so try not to compare yourself to those who are losing before their first fill. Hang in there! Remember the band is a life-long tool!
