Cutecat 0 Posted May 13, 2008 Hi my name is Maria I'm 37 years old and I'm from England. I have been seeing a consultant regarding getting banded for nearly two years. My next appointment is tommorow. The reason it's taking so long is because I have a kidney disease called nephrotic syndrome. My kidney consultant doesn't think there will be any problems with being banded and even if there are they can easily take it out. Just wondering if anyone has been banded with the same condition or anything similar ? For the last week I've been so weepy because I know tommorow is crunch time and I'm so scared he's going to say no. I have two lovely little boys and a fab husband but it's not enough. I'm sick of people saying you have such a pretty face (don't you hate that !!!) they can't understand why I want it done. I feel like my life is passing me by especially not being able to run around with my boys and having no energy. For the last three months I have been treated for sleep apnea and now wear a cpap mask. I hate it but I know I need to get the sleep apnea under control. I'm sorry for ranting on. Would love a bit of advise as I don't feel I can talk to anyone. nurseRN 0 Posted May 13, 2008 Hi Maria, My name is Tina and I am a RN I specialize in Nephrology and my patients are on dialysis. I live in the US 25 miles outside of NYC. I actually have a patient that is on dialysis get the lap band 2 weeks ago. She is doing fine. If your condition is stable there is no reason that you can not be banded ( I do not know the rest of your medical history however). I was banded on 4-16-08 and have lost 20lbs. It is not so easy , but , it is worth it. I had pain for about 3-4 days, and some days I am nausiated. I feel so far that the band is going to affect everyone differently as I compare myself to others comments on this site. Ask your doctor questions and I hope you have a nephrologist (DR. specializing in the kidneys) I am sure you will need medical clearance from him/her. Good luck!
