Anyone with a 4cc band? Please help

Recommended Posts

I am a little depressed because I just found out that my band only holds 4ccs. I guess I am depressed because after reading all of the wonderful threads and finding out how many ccs others have, I am concerned because I had my first fill last week. I received 2ccs and I feel little to no restriction. Will someone with a 4cc band please tell me when I can expect some restriction or how was your experience. I have scheduled an appointment with fill center usa for the end of the month in Roswell, GA. I am hoping to leave with atl least 3cc to 3.5ccs in my band. Hopefully, this thing will work for me. I pray it does. :wink2:

Hi:

Are you sure you only have a 4cc band? I have one and I'm only up to 1.8 in my band and I've had it for 11 months. Don't feel badly if you have a 4cc versus one of the bigger ones. I've been told that it is easier to keep at a good restriction level than the bigger bands.

I think it took me 3 fills before I got restriction. I cannot remember what that was, I think 1.25.

Good luck.

Sue

Thank you so much for the response. I checked and rechecked. I have a 10cm band that holds a max of 4ccs. I just hope that I can get some restriction.

am in a 4cc band, weighed 243lb when band was put in a year ago and now weighs 185lb. i didnt feel much restriction till i got to the 1.9ccs. i believe i am currently at 2.1 or so ccs now. as a matter of fact i feel very tight when i eat certain foods, like beef. it really did not bother me that i was in a 4cc, i thought they picked the 4cc because i was in the 40 to 43bmi range..or maybe it was my wight vs my heigh. whatever the case i was loosing 1pound a week which was good enough for me. now i pay attention to my calorie count with sparkpeople.com and try to exercise three times a week. am not loosing a pound a week...but am not doing excellent with my eating and exercising either...however am not gaining, which is most important.

If you are at 2, maybe try 2.75 rather than going too far at once.

I'm at 3.5cc right now and at my sweet spot, but as you can see I'm well along in my journey. I did well at 2.75 for awhile, and then at 3ccs. I think I will only need small adjustments after this.

Don't worry, you have a ways to go before you should worry. I know a lot of people need between 3-4 ccs in their 4cc band to have perfect restriction. The band can actually hold just a little more than the 4cc if you really need it to.

I have the same 10cm band that holds 4 ccs. I just had my first fill 1 week ago and the Dr only gave me .5 CCs..I don't feel any restriction...I'm discouraged too because he said I shouldn't expect another fill for 4 months...

4 months is a very long time. I have an appointment with Fill Center USA in Roswell, GA. Those doctors will fill you every 4 weeks. You may want to log on to their site and find a doctor near you. However, this will proably make your own doctor upset.

I have a 4cc band with 2.4cc currently filled ~ and has been for 18 months. What you must remember is that even though we all might have the same size band- we do not all have the same size stomach! The linings of our stomach can change - mine currently has which makes restriction more so. Give it a little time. I know you are anxious, but it takes time to heal - use this time wisely to learn the rules of the band for when you do have significant restriction. Good luck!:biggrin2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
