Insurance Frustrations!

Recommended Posts

I started checking into Lap Band surgery in March as I have been overweight since I was about 12 and and now 38. It had been smooth sailing with the referral getting made promptly and getting my nutrition and psych evals and then getting in for the consult with the surgeon! Roadblock came last week when I called my insurance company after them having put me off for two weeks and found out that they denied me, they said is was because my BMI wass over 50 and it was considered investigational. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I have been reading the posts and finally am taking the time to post myself.

Please let me know if anyone has any advice.

Thanks!:wink2:

Hopeful,

I would call them back and ask them to explain. Because if I'm correct the lap-band was approved by the FDA since 2001. So I don't think that would still make it an investigational procedure. Maybe call your dr's office also to see if they have any idea what your insurance is referrring to.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
