Onederland and a pair of size 14 jeans!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am in Onederland! I've been between 201 and 203 for the last month, somedays seeing 200, or even 204! I thought I would never get out of the 200's. Yesterday the scale hit 198, and today 199. I know I should not weigh everyday. I have my third fill (hopefully) this Thursday. This month has been very difficult. I don't have much restriction. I even ate two pieces of pizza one night and felt nothing. I will say that besides that night, I really have noticed a huge change in the food choices I make. It is not the constant battle it once was. I know the band is really helping me to change my habits, I would however like to feel more restriction. I certainly don't want to get sick, however I do want the band to prevent me from eating certain foods. I will say this month has been a valuable learning expereince for me. I still need to asses everything I eat, plan out meals for the day, and make the right choices. This IS NOT a sure fix, only a tool. I know the reason I did not lose that much this month is becuse I could have made better choices, but I am not beating myself up, I still lost 3 lbs this month which has brought me to onederland.

On another note I bought a pair of size 14 jeans yesterday! I never wore jeans because I could not get them to fit me. I tired on the 16W and they were too big, went searching for size 14 W, they had none. Went to a different store, tried on the regular size 16. Too big. Do I dare try the 14? I did and OMG they fit. My husband loves them on me and says I look so curvey. I have not been able to shop regular sizes in years.

I am really motivated now!! Thanks for letting me share.

Erin

Congrats!

I am still wearing my size 16 .... but I know I can go down a size. I am nearly swimming in them and my belt is out of holes ... on the last one.

WTG on the onederland!

I can see it in my near future. My goodness ... I can only imagine how proud you are of yourself.

You're doing it.

Erin, that is fantastic news. I am about 13 lbs from onederland too. I'm in a size 16 in some sizes and 18s in others. My goal is size 16 in jeans. Good job!

Yeah for you! We are the same weight! I finally hit 199.5 yesterday (happy mother's day!) and today was 199. I was having the same problem as you - our scales must be afraid to go down into the 1's!!!! Funny - I now weigh what it says I weigh on my driver's license!!! I have been carrying around that little lie for years and boy, does it feel good to really weigh that! Actually, I now weigh less than it says. How fun is this? Don't you love your band???

I made it to Onederland on Mother's Day!! Kudos to you and congratualtions. YOU GO GIRL!!! I bought some size 16 pants 3 weeks ago to take to Vegas and they are already a bit baggy in the seat. I hope to be in a 14 on my birthday June 10th. That would be the perfect birthday present. No one in my family has seen me yet. I'm going home August 30th for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I would LOVE to be in a 12 by then. Think it's possible? They will faint when I get off the plane. Can't wait.

Congratulations! I can't wait to join Onderland with you all. I have been stuck at 230-232 forever. I get so frustrated. I am wearing mostly 16's now which is a blessing since I started out in 26's. I have an appointment on 5/27 and hopefully will get a fill. I definitely need one (this past weekend was proof of that) but took six weeks to get an appointment. Poor scheduling on my part too. My goal was 199 by my 40th birthday on 8/14 but have to ammend that considering only three months away and have a cruise in July. I would be ecstatic with 215 by my b-day given my extended plateau.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
