Does anyone know if you can ride the rides at parks like six flags and stuff? I am very excited about this. Last time I went to Carowinds with my kids I got emberrassed by some kid trying to stuff me in the seat of a roller coaster. I am really looking forward to being able to ride these rides with my kids in the future when I loose enough weight.

You're losing well and will be on those rides in no time at all. I think they hold 200 pounds comfortably so you're on your way.

I think it depends on how you carry your weight. Some people are "bottom heavy" and some are "top heavy". I find that most people who carry their weight on the bottom have a harder time fitting in the seats. There is a website that talks about theme parks and how they have special seating for bigger people or people with disabilities. I'm sorry I don't know the name of the site though. You are doing well so it shouldn't be too long before you will be enjoying all of the rides. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

~Best wishes to you and yours~

I REALLY love amusement parks!

Anyway, I weigh 260 and I was still able to stuff myself into the rides. I had to ride in a special car once (not embarassing at all- end sarcasm).

I would think once you get around 250-ish you should try it out and see what happens.

Carowinds? As in Charlotte, NC? I'm from Charlotte and use to go to Carowinds everyday in the summer! I no longer live in Charlotte, but one day, after being banded, I will return and ride every ride again! :) Good luck!

I am 6'4" and currently am about 290. Had no problem on roller coasters last week at Busch Gardens (Virginia), although I did not go on them all. Florida has a law that mandates a row for "larger" people. When in Florida -just find out what row it is and hop on. When I am around 260-270 I know I have no problem at all on any coasters (never had a problem). Think of it as a NSV goal !!

I'm assuming you're askign about lap=band safety wise??? I asked my doc when I can ride again...he laughed and said no one had asked him that before...he said at least 6wks. Same as for horseback riding.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
