Looks like I get to call my surgeon tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Was looking at my incisions today and noticed one was a bit puffy and off colored. I would call today but well its sunday, you know those docs and weekends, they gotta play golf sometime :Banane53:.

So a full pic of my incisions and a enlarged one of #5 which is the one that made my eyes bug out today.

Good thing my doc is a hottie, gives me something to look forward too when I call him tomorrow. :welldoneclap::thumbup:

Looks infected, but you should see that dr. to be sure, particularly if he's hot. :welldoneclap: Throw some neosporin or other ointment on it and leave it alone. Good luck! :Banane53:

Yep, that definitely looks like it might be starting to get infected. I would have it looked at for sure. Hope it turns out to be nothing!

Keep it clean and get to your surgeon's office for an evaluation and maybe some blood work as well.

LOL yeah I love how they avoided the tat also. Made me even more happy with my surgeon.

Speaking of, I just finished talking to his nurse. Since I do not have a fever, or am sick (throwing up kind of thing) they want me to just keep an eye on it. It does look better this morning so I think the swelling might have been part of the problem as the swelling has gone down quite a bit over night.

She told me to make sure I wash it really good (but gently of course) and to put a hot compress on it off and on through out the day.

Amazingly enough that is what I have been doing. Guess those years as an EMT are finally paying off

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
