Well the surgery went quick according to the doctor. I stayed the night at the hospital because I knew I'd have complications with the anesthesia which of course I did. My blood pressure went extremely low and the nurses were worried about me and yelling at me to wake up because I wasnt able to wake up on my own.

The nurses on the floor I was on like me becuz I kept wanting to walk around trying to get the gas out and didnt complain that I had to walk...which of course didnt work. I was so miserable when I got home, that I was crying so hard in pain. Thank god and goddess for this chat room, chloemom suggested a heating pad. Well I put the heating pad on while still crying my eyes out in pain...the next thing I know I'm exploding farts left and right. So thank goodness for chloe....today I'm still in pain and I'm upset about my husband leaving me here to deal with this recovery on my own because he has to go to Missouri for work and I cant really rely on our son to help me. He's 14 and a butthead. I'm so upset..I cry about everything. The only support I have is ppl on here.

I took a shower tonite and just let the Water run over my incisions...I put some fresh bandages on them. Well I can feel where the band is very plain as day and I hope that is normal. I also am havin lots of pain where my port was put in. I havent been able to eat anything. I just keep sipping water..that's about all I can do. Just gotta keep hydrated.

You know how they say it's always darkest before the dawn? The worst is over! Get your son to do all the bending (it will do him good!) and just focus on yourself and your recovery. I know for me it took about 5-6 days before I could easily lay on either side in bed and easily sit up if I had been laying down. Now 4 weeks out, all is good and I'm just watching that scale continue to go down! So, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Darlin I am almost 4 days out, today was rough for me but that was my own fault, I over did it yesterday. But all in all I am feeling pretty good as each day passes.

Just remember, this to shall pass. You WILL start feeling better, and as for your son just remind him that you brought him in this world and you can take him back out (that was my moms favorite saying with me :tt1:). He will come around eventually, no worries there.

Sorry you are suffering, but it will get better with time. The hardnpart is over and now it's time to enjoy the ride! Like someone else said, remind your son that you brought him into this world. It is mother's day afterall. Make him a list or tell him very specifically what you need him to do. I know if my 17 y/o doesn't have very specific instructions, he is lost.

Good luck and let us know how you're feeling today!

Take your pain meds!!! Narcotics are your friend. If you have no meds then get some immediately. I was in a haze for the first week. As soon as the meds wore off and the pain came back, I would take more! But, I was happy, got a lot of sleep, and was not in pain. Hope you feel better.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
