Lower abdomin pain, Please Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

OK here is the situation, I was banded 4 1/2 weeks ago beginning of April. Everything seems to be going ok, but lately I have been having an aching pain in my lower ride side. (across from where my hip is) I don't think it is my appendix (because I can eat and I am not throwing up) I will call the doctor this week but I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this pain. could it be gas? It hurts when I walk, and feels much better when I sit down. The pain comes and goes. I have moved to solid food this week so could that be it? Thanks so much!!:tt1:

Miamipeaches - definately call your doc to play it safe. I can't say I've ever felt that type of pain...but it's always better safe than sorry. Definately call ok?

call your doctor!! When my appendix went I never had any nausea at all. Just dull constant pain that occasionally got worse for a while then subsided again to the dull pain. After 3 days I went to the Dr who put me in the hospital. A day later I was in surgery to get it removed. The surgeon said If I had of waited one more day it would have ruptured and would have MUCH worse.

Better safe then sorry.

Miami, You do need to call the doctor, but I had the same pain and it turned out to be internal stitches healing where he had cut muscle. My pain would only hurt if I laid on my left side or used that muscle group. But call the doc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
