I had my surgery yesterday!! I am super excited that the pain is minimal, but the gas pain is horrible!! If I didnt know better I would think I was having a heart attack!! I know walking helps, any other suggestions??

Also, did you wash your stomach the next day, and if so, what with? Thanks in advance for your answers!!

I'm 10 days post op, and I'm still bloated. I get gas from milk products and the Protein mix as well. Ask your pharmacists for something over the counter like gas x strips.. .(sometimes they work sometimes not).

for a gassy stomach after drinking protein mix, i lean forward slightly and have my mom or sister gently tap my back, so i can burp and really it feels a lot better (your stomach's just like a little baby's right now, very delicate and prone to all sorts of distresses).

I can sympathise with my infant newphew now.. !!!

Try putting a heating pad on your tummy or back to help move the gas,, it really does help,,I have had several laproscopic surg with gas I know, also I find hot mint tea helps or tiny candy mints helps me if you don't have quick access to gas x strips,, then go buy gas x strips and keep around for the first month. When you feel the gas start to build up in your chest, get up and walk a little that will help it move out, then go back to your heating pad. Good luck,, it will pass.

Was the Question about the yellow surgical stuff they sponge all over your tummy or the wound/insision care? I let my strips fall off. I washes delicatly around my belly just not on top of the strips. when they fell off, I put Vitamin E oil messaged on the insisions (after the scabs came off too). I walked like a mad woman to get rid of the gas pains swinging my arms wildly about.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
