My appointment was 4 hrs and not one minute less! I had to answer something like 400 questions and then the psychologist sat back in his recliner and talked to me, wanting to know all about my history. When all was said and done, he didn't tell me anything I hadn't already self diagnosed. It was a very expensive morning ($750) to learn I'm borderline OCD -- aren't we all? At least my insurance covered most of it. If you were told 3 hours, it'll be 3 hours. Just look at it as another hoop to jump through and you'll be done before you know it.

Oh wow. I'm going for my appointment in 30 minutes. They didn't say anything about 3 hours! But I've already gone and filled out the questionnaire part. I told my husband if I got committed would he come and get me out! HA! I'm a bit nervous, but I figure it's going to be about how I've gotten like this (weight problems) and what I've done in the past. things like that.

I'll let you know how it goes!!!!

I just had my Psych Eval 4/29 and was there for 4 hours!! I spoke to the Doc for an hour then took 3 hours worth of testing; MMPI-2 (370 Q/A,) the MBTI (150 Q/A,) and some Eating Disorder Test (50 Q/A.) It was basically the same 5 questions asked 100 different ways. Really messes with you when you're bipolar! Although they were all T/F, I had to answer just one.. "Do you hear voices?" I wrote, "Yes, I just heard you at the microwave say, "Damn.. that's really hot."" You don't think they will fail me for that, do you?

Had my eval last night. I had already done all the question tests.. (do you hear voices, do you have thoughts of suicide, those things + the eating disorder test). My appointment was about 45 minutes. He asked me to describe the surgery and risks to him, describe my diet both pre and post op. What foods would be "risky' or to be avoided, things like that. It actually was informative and once I settled in I wasn't nervous. He went over my personality profile thing.. I'm normal. slightly depressed due to health concerns and my weight (duh). all in all it was good.

Glad to hear it went well for you.

I find I'm glad to have made the contact with my psych, just in case stuff comes up as the weight comes off. It's nice to have some backup.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
