Inexpensive Bras, A Simple Tip

Recommended Posts

Hey there, just a tip for the girls.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Yesterday I was at Big Lots (Yes, Big Lots) looking for a few inexpensive bras. I normally pay about 6 dollars for brands like Vasserette, Delta Burke, and others there. I’ve been lucky in the past to find some exactly in my size, but this time I didn’t.

I was looking at a few sizes smaller than what I’m wearing now. I told myself I will need these as I lose weight, but it’d be a waste to buy them now. But then….they were so cute and there are no guarantees that they will be here when I need them. Then it hit me.

BRA EXTENDERS.

It’s so simple really. I’ve done it before for this super awesome bra that was perfect for an outfit. I don’t know why it never occurred to me again until now.

So, I walked out of Big Lots with three frilly bras normally priced at $28.00. I spent $18 there and $.088 a piece for extenders at Wal-Mart. So, I spent a total of $20.64 for three bras when I would have normally paid $28-36 for a single bra at Lane Bryant. When you get down to it, it was even cheaper than buying three JMS bras at Wal-Mart ($11.00 each).

Anywho, I figure as I lose weight I can remove the extenders when the bras I just bought fit right. I can then reuse the extenders for the next size down and so forth.

Hey, if you’ve got the cash to pay 28 bucks for a bra you’re only going to wear for a short while then have at it, but if you’re like me, this is the way to go. ~Panda

Only thing I'd be scared of is in the past when I lost a large amount of weight I lost a cup size

My hubby niticed I tell you but the bras did not fit the same at all!!!

I was at that time small enough to fit into a bra from Victorias Secret!!!

I am so looking forward to getting to shopping there once again. :frown:

I have lost a cup size already. I was a DD, now a D. I'm hoping that I don't get smaller than a C. But I'm so large now I don't know what's going to happen to the twins.

My sizes are actually going in the opposite direction, my torso is shrinking, but the girls are not, so I've now found that I'm going up in cup size, but down in band size. I went from about a 46 DDD to a 38 G, Go figure!

Do the cups fit well though? Because a DD in a 32 is NOT the same as a DD in 34.

For that very reason, I also went down in torso size, up in cup size.

I think a well fitting bra is a good investment. If your bra fits well, all your clothes look better.

I don't even want to discuss the girls...... They look like two tennis balls in tube socks...... I need all the help I can get in a properly fitting cup. That way I can push, shove, prop up, plump up, support and redistribute what's left. How depresssing......

G's??? I'm not sure my back can handle that. They're probably pretty though. Is it hard to find bras?

I used to wear a 48DD What I bought were 42D's. The cups fit much, much better and the band is just about an inch, too small. The extender takes care of that.

My problem is mine are flattening big time. I think by the time I hit goal weight they're gonna look super wierd. I've been thinking about plastic surgery already, but I don't want implants. I just want them to yank them up and look perky, even if it means they are knocking me in the chin.

That's very true. The ones I bought look really good and fit well. I've been wearing a cup size too big and this feels better. And the underwire is nice, too. I don't normally wear underwire bras, but these are more comfortable than I'd imagined.

Yeah, I finally gave in and got underwires and now my clothes fit so much better. Makes me sorry I was such a wuss about it before.

I have trouble with underwires, but it might be due to the fact that I use bras longer than recommended.

I hated underwires when I was heavy-Now I won't leave the house without one. I also need padding to even out the irregular size of my girls. They are now a 38-long-yup the tube socks thing. I have to make sure they are all tidy and tucked in-but the wires and padding help immensely.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
