No, it's not mine but one of my good friends rang me last week to say she is getting married in June.

Boy, what an incentive to lose as much as I can between now and then. So far I haven't done any exercise apart from work (I'm on my feet all day walking around). I went and ordered my treadmill yesterday and gets delivered Tuesday. I think I'll handcuff myself to it like the woman on A Current Affair. That'll be interesting to watch tonight.

Also I'm starting back at Curves next week. Now my health is pretty much under control I can start going again - 4 operations in 5 months has kept me from doing much of anything.

So, it'll be the big countdown to the big day and be interesting to see what happens between now and then. I'll let you all know what happens in the next 7 weeks with the exercise thing.

Good on you,

The first step is the hardest, once you get on the exercise trail and get a routine you will find it hard to imagine how you didnt do it before. I tell myself every time I feel like not exercising "Its only 1 hour out of your life get up now and feel good later"

I have my niece's 21st at the end of June and I want to lose 10kgs before then. Don't know if I can do it but I'm going to try so let's keep each other company on this one.

Right, you're on. I'd be happy to lose 10kg before the day. Even better if I could lose more but I'll see what happens.

I bought a shirt about a month ago which is a bit tight so I haven't worn it and decided it'd be good to wear with a skirt or pants to the wedding. My aim is for the shirt to look good on me for the wedding without showing all my lumps and bumps - with a lot of hard work it might be too big and I'll have to buy a new smaller one .

I'd love a treadmill.... I have a Curves across the road from my home - are they good? What is the concept?

Best wishes for your mini-goal. I have to go to a wedding also in mid-June. I am going to wear the beautiful red / jewelled pashmina I bought when on a business trip to India last year. The great thing about the pashmina is that it will "fit" no matter what size I am.

I haven't bought anything new yet but I want to wait until a couple of weeks beforehand, that way I will have most of the weight off. Okay, let's touch base again a week from today. Good luck to the 3 of us looking fantastic for June !!:thumbup:

Well it's more than a week later but here I am to say that I've actually lost 1.5 lbs... not much by some people's standards but I'm very happy because I'm finally losing weight again. :blushing:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
