How much food could you eat...

Recommended Posts

... before your first fill?

My doctor told me wednesday that I could start eating solid food. So I attempted to eat a 'normal' lunch from the cafeteria today. I stuck to a mushy side, but green Beans and a soft meatloaf was normal. I ate slowly and chewed thoroughly. I didn't have a problem eating it which is great. However, although I was only able to eat about 1/2 what I would normally, I was still able to eat more than I thought I would. I realize I don't have any real restriction right now. I was just curious how much people could eat before their first fill and if you gained any weight back. I am down a bit and don't want to gain it back so I was just curious.

That all said, I came home tonight and entered everything I have eaten today into WW (I am trying to follow that plan) and I am still was well under my points for the day and that suprised me. The other good thing is that after I ate lunch, I was not at all hungry and didn't eat much tonight when I got home. Both good things, but I don't get my first fill until 6/2 which is like 4 weeks from now and I am afraid by then I will be able to eat as I did before the band and ruin the work I have already done.

i haven't had my first fill yet either and i find that as long as i eat slow i can eat a little more than half the amount as i did before surgery. my dietician recommended not to give in to the hunger and continue to eat small means with a lot of Protein.< /p>

I haven't had a fill yet either. Today was my first day to add something to my "mushy" foods. I had crab legs at a catered event tonight and could not eat an entire king crab leg. I am full and think I should not be able to eat so much. I am also going to follow the ww plan. Good luck w/ yours and let me know how it is going for you.

When I first started eating solid food I couldn't eat very much at all. I have little tiny dessert bowls and I would put my food in there and that was all I could eat. I think it's because the stomach is still healing. I have my first fill on 5/13, so I'm really looking forward to that and not being quite so hungry and being able to eat more.

Here is an idea of what I could have before my first fill, for Breakfast 1 scrambled egg, maybe 1/3 banana or few berries, lunch sl cheese, 2 tbls salmon salad, few berries if hunry for lunch, dinner, 2 tbls mash sweet pot, 2tbl brocc, pc tilipia,. Trick is don't eat in front of TV,, and stop when you feel satisfied,,not your old full feeling..Mindless eating will keep you going even though you are satisfied you just don't realize it. I don't eat anything I am not actually hungry for. Chew slowly and well. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
