Terrible start of my day..

Recommended Posts

OK, so. I woke up at 4:30 with pains in my legs (charlie horses) and didnt get back to sleep til 6, and i had to get up at 6:30. so that really sucked... but not as much as what im about to tell u.

i got up and got ready for the day and my mom calls me. she tells me that in order for her to have her surgery it will cost her $7,000, and thats including the help from our insurance apparently...

she said that instead of her getting the surgery, she would pay for me to get it. she said i have a longer life to live and she wants me to be able to enjoy it. that just made me depressed knowing the only reason my mom isn't getting what she wants is because she knows i want it too. we both need it, theres no doubt about that. but i am gonna feel so guilty if i actually do it... she'll see me losing the weight and be saddened by it.

i dont know what to do!!:sad::thumbup:

Aww. That's so sweet of your mother. I would sit and talk with her about it and make sure it's what she wants to do. My mom is on the heavy side but not big enough for lapband so she is just eating healthy with me while I go through the process and exercising with me. Just have a talk with your mom and see what's up. That's so sweet though, brings a tear to my eye. I wish you luck in everything you do.

Wow! Your mother is a truly a wonderful person. I can't speak for your mother. I can only speak as a mother, and what makes me happy is to see my daughter happy. Don't get me wrong I can have my selfish moments, just like anyone else. I think you should except your mothers gift and let her live through your joy, becuase that gives a mother lots of happiness. And also there is nothing like a child expressing the joy and knowledge of a mothers love and sacrifice. Best wishes to you and your new journey.

Awwwww, what a nice mamma! I have two children and I would do ANYTHING for them b/4 myself. Just give it all a few weeks and a few talks with your mamma and then make your decision. Good luck

If ya'll can get the surgery for $7,000, that about half of what most people who self pay have to pay. Is there no way ya'll can both go through with the surgery for that price? Most Dr. have reasonable payment plans.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
