What does restriction feel like???

Recommended Posts

I just had my 5th fill on Monday. Since then, sometimes I can eat alot and other times only a couple of bites. When I can only eat a couple of bites I usually have to throw up to get rid of the tightness and chest pain I feel. Is this restriction or what is it. Appreciate any specific examples of what it feels like to be restricted. I really need help and don't want to call the doctor just yet. I've been able to get 5 fills within 3 months and would hate for him to want to take any cc's out.

You will oftentimes feel tighter in the morning and more loose at night. If you feel you can't keep anything down, not even Water then you are too tight. You are feeling that tightness most likely because you are eating too fast and taking too big of bites. Focus on slowing down and eating really small bits of food at a time. Also the typ of food you eat can make you feel like throwing up because it gets stuck. Most common Protein that does that is the white meat chicken and turkey. Others include breads and Pasta. Take it slow and if it happens all the time talk with your doctor. It is a learning process.

Thanks for the help.

This morning I only took 2-3 bites of egg and had chest pain. I chewed it well and took small bites. I stopped eating and started again when the pain resided. I probably shouldn't eat after the chest pain but I felt 3 bites is not enough to make me full. Any ideas about this? Thanks

Sometimes it depends on the type of egg. Scrambled eggs tend to be too dry and stick when going down so you get that feeling. Fried or poached go down much better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
